Links between FF7 and FF10

has anyone else noticed the links between FF10 and FF7 or is it just me?

Umm...guys...both of you have basically spammed, spamming isn't just one-liners, but it is also a post that has nothing to do with the topic. Sure, braska double-posted oneliners, but you should still post about the subject, instead of just telling him/her off.

I saw a few links between FFVII and FFX. Mainly Tidus and Cloud seemed to be existing for similar reasons, which I will not say so I won't spoil the games for anyone. The only thing that prevents them from being linked would have to be the race of ancients? They don't seem to exist at all in FFX, and no, the espers can't be ancients...

The closest link I've seen to FFVII is actually in FFX-2...two things, what is the little kid's name who is in the airship and what does he say towards the end of the game...give up?

The answers are Shinra and something about using spirit energy for power...

That little Shinra kid, could be the future president of Shinra. But who knows really. Maybe Squenix is gonna keep making FF games, and when like number 20 comes, they set all the games together, and you realize, that it was the same world all the time. Or something like that. But the maps from FFX and FFVII look a little similar. Maybe Spira is the world from FFVII a millenium later. Maybe Shinra freezes himself down for future science and then takes over the world?

As for the topic at hand, connections between VII and X? There was some weapon references (the things you slash with, not the monsters lol), and some skill names, I cant put a finger on them all.

The main characters looks alot like each other. Both (even though all do) have a Cid in it. Um both have a problem in the past, and both odn't get the women they love in the end. That's all i got right now

I found this interesting, which is under the evidence tab on the webpage.

The following interview was with the writer of FFVII, FFX and FFX-2, Kazushige Nojima. It appeared in the official Japanese FFX-2 Ultimania Guide. Therefore, the primary source is in Japanese. That source can be found here. We do have an English translation done, however, so here is the excerpt from that interview when Nojima is asked if there is a connection:

-- Is there a connection between Shinra and FFVII?

Nojima: Yes, actually. After Shinra quit the Gullwings he got enormous financial backing from Rin and went to the Farplane to start extracting the Mako energy used by the Vegnagun. But the system for utilizing this energy could not be completed in his generation, so far in the future when space travel was possible, the Shinra Company was founded on another planet... or something like that. That would be a thousand years or so from this game's story.

-- And VII's story takes place after that?

Nojima: Well, you could say that's how I personally feel about it.

So i think that there is a connection between both worlds.

The only link I saw between FF7 and FFX is on the box cover of FFX, that reactor looking thing on the right reminds me of Midgar.
