Lone Wolf and Cub

I have been a great fan of Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima. I have been lucky enough to collect the entire series of Lone Wolf and Cub. I have also been able to collect Samurai Executioner.

This conversation though will deal with the world of Lone Wolf and Cub, as well as what it represents. I have had this conversation before with other fans, and I am always presented with the entire series as more than simply a great series that deals with just simple ideals like revenge and honor. It is generally accepted that it is a series that deals with a ronin and his son. It is also accepted in my viewpoint that it is a excellent journey through the world that they live in.

My question is..Is it more than this? I have held to the idea that in a way Kazuo has used the series to tell something like fables. Stories on how you should act in a situation. Each story seems to be almost like a fortune cookie of a sort. Though that is really condensing it into a simplified form. I have held the belief that as Ogami travels through these stories and through this world, he sees that the world he knew is changing. Thus the "perfect" samurai must destroy the old world...to make room for the new world that it is becoming.

What are your thoughts? I would love to hear them.

*wonders why this was moved from intellectual conversations to general when this was meant to be a intellectual conversation*
