If you had a million dollars

Lets say you’ve just won a million dollars, what would you do with the money?

I would buy whatever I need like a better PC, huge HDTV, clothes, etc. Then! Put it in the bank, it would be stupid to spend it all in one day.

Stick half of it in a high interest bank account. (Or buy shares in the bank)
And the other half will fund a lovely holiday with my mates somewhere tropical.

Firstly, I would move my family well away from Southern England, up to Scotland in a secluded place. I would give my father a cheque of £10k to stay away from us. I would then give my sister £30k so that she could contribute to renting out an apartment with her boyfriend.

I'd move my boyfriend away with me. The place is Scotland would be two seperate houses. They'd be about 500 yards apart from each other. My mother and brother would have one of them, and my boyfriend and I would have the other.

With ther est of the money, I'd build my art studio and stick the rest of the money in the bank.

Although there probably wouldn't be much by the end of it.

A Million dollars will all be invested in a share portfolio of my own construction, consisting mainly of offshore investments. The Indian sharemarket bluechips are doing scarily well of the late, and will probably just use arbitrage to make large gains quickly, before moving back and investing the greater lumps into the Aussie sharemarket.

I'll use the income from dividends as my rather obscenely large toy budget. haha

I'd just live comfortably. Happily. Not have to work. And get a car for Marian, she has a family of seven and small hatchback which breaks down every two seconds.

Also, I'd buy a laptop so that I could use the internets. Oh, and get a new mp3 player.

And also give the person who took the time to bad rep me in the SIMS thread a fiver. Wow. I was impressed, and complimented, that someone could find fault in such a small thread.

Whoopee, off topic.

I would also buy a yacht.

Finish paying off student loans, first of all.

After that, I'd probably help my parents out and pay off whatever remaining balances they have on stuff. From that point, I'd look into a couple of luxury purchases; new HDTV, new vehicle (which I desperately need), and some less-expensive things. The rest gets tossed into savings, and I'd continue to work.

I'd be lost without a job. I need some sense of responsibility in my life.

i would pay off my very small student loan, buy a new motorcycle and invest the rest for retirement.

Put most of it away and let the interest grow. I'd give a good sum of it to my father to make up for the expense of college, and then once I was out, I would use whatever interest I had to finish off student loans. I'd help Adam (my brother) with college too if he worked hard and kept a scholarship. I'd like to use some of it for travel. I figure it's best to travel the world while you're young and without small children. Then, I'd let it sit a while longer and focus on a career (believe it or not, I'd like to work). Once I'm all set with that, I could focus on marriage and children. And I don't think I would tell my children about the fortune right away. I don't think my style of living would give it away either. They'd get to go on vacations to the beach in the summer, and I'd take them to Disney World a few times. When they got their first car, it would be nice enough to run a long time, but not anything too extravagant. They'd have to work hard to get into college and get a scholarship.

Somewhere along the line, I'd let them in on it. But really, I'd like them to have a pretty average middle class childhood. And if at all possible, I'd like to leave them a pretty good inheritance when I pass. So there you go.

I would pay off my debt which is all student loans that would take up 10% of it. Then I would pay off my parent's debt which probably would be another 10%. Then I would pay for college for my sister and whatever else she is going to need student loans for. After that I'd get a new computer and buy a lot of anime to keep me grinning for a very long time. And just save the rest. I would then go back to work and keep doing that even though I probably have more than enough money to life off of for a while.

Though in all honesty I really want a million I'd just settle for zero debts and have not have to worry about them anymore. Once that happened, I make enough already to have a decent apartment on my own. It is amazing what you can do if you don't have debts to pay.

Definitely save to pay for my student loans that I'll have to pay after I graduate. Then I'll give half my dough to my mom for whatever she wants, new Big Wide screen T.V, PS3, Wii, all those new age consoles. Eat at the best places in the world!! Oh yeah, my dream, try all the different types of foods in the worlds best restruants! And I would buy a very hot house and a car.

I'd buy as many houses as I could, fix up all the rooms in the style of hotel rooms with en suite bathrooms, create just one big common kitchen, and there, I'd have a load of little houses to rent.

Its investing AND I get to kind of live out my dream of owning a hotel one day.

What! $1000000! A million dollars isn't that much these days, let's say a hundred million!

Anyway...

I would buy a nice house, two nice cars , donate maybe $100k to charity

, then put the rest in the bank to retire on. Oh, and I would definitely keep on working - a million would not support me for a lifetime, after all, and I wouldn't want to go broke like so many lottery winners do.

I'd probably buy a small place near my local university and get myself educated seriously. Afterwards, I'd probably teach, or work with kids to help them find their calling!!

If I had a million dollars, I would definitely share it with my parents and close relatives. They mean everything to me so it would be really awesome to give them some of the money, to make them happy. Plus I would probably give some to my closest friends, there is only a couple of them. One million is not a lot really these days so I don't think you would be able to get an awful lot. I would love to buy a nice house and car and a big screen television to play games on. What a fantastic life that would be! I don't think I have any hope of getting that sort of mon
