Chicken vs. Turkey

That's right, the eternal question...
Which is better, the chicken or the turkey?
Or does it depend on the circumstances surrounding the eating of the bird?

After eating Turkey for the first time in as long as I remember due to finding it cheaper, I concluded that I liked Chicken a whole lot more.
Turkey just seemed more dry and to hold a little less flavour.
So my vote here goes for the chicken.

It depends on how it's cooked.

Turkey's always got some level of dryness unless you add pickles to it or something.
Chicken can be quite well done but can be greasy if you cook it with too many oils.
The bird seems to taste fairly similar to me, turkey's just less flavoured usually.

I think I'll go ahead and pick the neutral option of "depends on the blah de blah."

Haha Celtic...this thread is pretty random...
Yet at the same, time it does incite members to recall their last times through which they munched on them poor birds.

On my side i've found turkey to be way better. Not only is it more filling, but it taste delicious (Given that its cooked well?). This shouldn't really count, but i tend to eat it with gravy and potaters and umm...oooh...boy can't wait for thanksgiving on monday .

As for chicken, its merely good when there is a whole lot of oil. I do love the roasted skin but other than that, i can't say i love eating something slippery and oily.

TURKEY!

I'd prefer chicken because it's really good and it has better taste than turkey.

Turkey just makes my mouth really dry for some reason.

Spicy chicken sandwiches from Wendy's, chick strips from Steak-n-Shake, fried chicken from KFC. Pfft, turkey's got nothing on chicken. I mean turkey's alright and I use to eat a lot as a kid, but really since everything taste like chicken you can't really debate that anything is better then that.

Chicken ftw.

Can you make Hot Browns out of chicken? No. Can you make a turkey, tomato, lettuce, mayo and bacon sandwich out of chicken? No. Can you stuff chicken with oyster stuffing and serve on thanksgiving? No. Can you make a giblet gravy that is perfect for mashed potatoes out of chicken? No. No! NO!

Chicken cannot stand up to the grand and delicious Turkey. Besides Turkey is about to be inducted in the EU! Turkey has it's own nation army! Can Chicken do that, I ask you? NO!

-Omni

EDIT:

Does chicken have the protein: L-tryptophan that makes people sleepy when heated? NO!

Neither.

I don't eat any poultry at all. I don't have anything against killing them, it's just the way that they are kept.

Especially chicken. They'll put eleven in a tiny little cage, all packed on top of eachother and none of them have any room to do anything. They are force-fed the corpses and fecal matter of the friends that have died to live on. It's extremely inhumane.

I don't eat eggs, either. And if I have to use eggs in something such as a cake I get them from the free-range place accross the road from me.

Now.. Not on taste wise..

Chicken. They're just really nice animals. When hand-raised they're very tame and sweet. And the babies are just gorgeous ^^. So cute and fluffy-like. They're excellent.

.
This position becomes very hard to maintain when going past just the meat factor. Cows and pigs don't get great treatment either, afterall, so using any of their related products (milk, etc) isn't much better. And it's REALLY hard to say that you won't use anything that comes from an animal. Trust me, I've tried it. I know someone who's able to do it, but it requires so much willpower that it's insane.

That being said, I no longer eat either, but I'm hardly an insane member of Peta who acts like they don't taste good. Well, Chicken anyways. I never liked Turkey, way too dry. Or maybe it's just a bad taste that tastes dry to me, I don't know. It's sick though. Chicken all the way.

Well, I haven't yet had turkey ever cooked properly, so I can't say. I've had chicken cooked to perfection (to my tastes, in any case) and I'm quite fond of it. It's versatile and tasty.

As for the vegetarian/vegan sidenote -

Eh, so hard. I was a veggie for hmm...I think five months or so. I supplemented my diet but I became like a wraith, I lost a lot of weight and looked horribly unhealthy. I, too, chose to stop eating meat because I didn't agree with the way animals were held.

But, things have improved over the course of the years. Also, you can't believe everything people like Peta tell you. For some reason, they think it's great to exaggerate, and have a habit of telling people how animals used to be held, instead of how they're held now.

No - I really don't think things are ideal right now. Animals are bred sloppily, not given enough time to mature properly or have much of a life, and are the victims of people trying to make a fast cheap buck.

But things are improving. Really, I don't think anyone can help animals by not eating them - and what about the rest of the planet? Lots of people think just by stopping the use of animal products they're saving the world...everything is too interconnected to not harm much of everything. 'Tis the web of life.

I'm not dissing people for being veggies or vegans though - not at all. Everyone has their own opinion, cheers to those who keep it.

Me, I just eat less meat.

It's unnatural not to...not eat meat.

Oh! Oh!

Popcorn chicken? Best effing thing ever.
