Da_Happy_Shark has levelled up - (lv 1)
Dang, sleep paralysis is attacking me again.

Not in two years have I experienced this. Not since abruptly awakening and dicovering I was unable to move which would bring about my body shaking violently which lead to my eyes being forced shut and the vague, bright outline of an alien or something forming in front of my eyes. I hadn't experienced anything considerable since then so I safely assumed it was over. Boy was I wrong. What I thought I would be receiving last night was a few hours of blissful shut-eye like every other night. Didn't cross my mind much but if SP was somewhere in my subconcious it would have been brushed off as long gone and finished. However after two years of absence it reared it's ugly head and made a comeback. Similar experience as last time except it happened repeatedly, 3 times in a row, a different image appeared and I wasn't aware of the situation immediately like last time. Anyway I woke up slightly dizzy and attempted to perform the instinctive action of shifting positions. But interestingly I couldn't move. I realised right then and there that there was only one explanation for it, "No way". shortly after my body began shaking uncontrollably although not quite as violently as my previous endeavor. My eyes shut and a staticky image of green appeared in front of me. Only to have me fade to sleep afterwards. It occured a following two times after that.

It's failry scary when it's taking place yet afterwards you quickly drift into a deep, peacful sleep and get over it. I'm just hoping the "old hag" doesn't pay me a visit.

If you receive sleep paralysis I'd like to hear of your stories.

Alien abduction?! Dun dun dun...

Well sonny, sleep is a strange place for the body and mind to be in. You wouldn't be the first person to experience these things...I know it's exciting to grope around in the supernatural, but I'm more of a person who stays highly skeptic of a lot of things, and I don't believe things unless I see 'em.

What I'm saying is, there's probably a rational explanation for your sleep paralysis. When you sleep, your body is paralyzed - the brain releases a chemical to stupor your muscles, so you don't act out your dreams with your body. Sometimes problems arise - and the chemical isn't worn off when you wake up, or counteracted and disappated. Usually you're still in some state of sleep, and even if you notice it, you won't remember in the morning.

And dreams...man, the brain is freaking weird. I can't tell you how many times I was certain there was "someone in the room with me"...and sometimes there really was, but it was a friend or roommate, and my mind, still sleepy, portrayed them as something different...a demon, an animal, an alien...whatever.

But yeah. I'm not telling you what to think, just sharing my opinon...

Yeah I understand what sleep paralysis is and how common it may be. And I didn't claim anything genuwinely supernatural was occuring I was just telling of my SP encounter and hoping someone else in the same boat can share an experience. It is simply a state of mind and it's highly doubtful that it's real but it's pretty darn realistic all the same.

I agree with you on that "weird brain" remark. The mind is a bizarre place.
