The pursuit of posts

I was wondering what everyone thinks about how important the pursuit of posts is on a forum?

Is it the most important defining characteristic as a forum goer, a symbol of status if you will or are there other more recognisable factors in establishing yourself as as a big personality in a forum?

Are you the kind of person who keeps on looking at their posts waiting eagerly to hit the milestone of 100, 500, 1000. 10000 etc., Or have you basically forgotten that your post count exists?

Do you set any strict standards on yourself in order to feel personally that your posts are of the quality they should be in order to otherwise avoid being viewed as or feeling like a post whore?

Finally, do you think I am being a post whore right now?

I personally don't give two shits about post count. Most if not all your current topics have to do with the forum itself, lol. Kind of odd, no? XD

But oh well. We all used to be post whores in one way or another.

I used to be one, when I was a forumwhore..
Now I occasionally post, got my periods, sometimes I don't post at all.
My post count is still sexy though

Yeah, there was a time when all that mattered to me was having a high post count. Heck, I even had a phase of posting 30 posts a day solely for the purpose of reaching the next 1000. Yeah, I led a sad lonely life back then.

Now I just don't care about post count. If you ask me, we don't even need it and it should go. It just encourages people to post-whore.... sometimes. (I added the 'sometimes' to sound less judgemental )

Yes I admit it is "sexy" lol to say the least On my old account the now somewhat covered in dust Ultima, I was a rather postwhore as well wanting to hit a few post milestones, but I still wanted my posts to be full of meaning, because I write with meaning and feeling. Now my post count is over 600 mainly because I love the trivia threads, I love posting my feelings about sorten posts like in the Intellent threads, and chatting about random things in the General Chat. I would'nt call myself a postwhore anymore, but sometimes I do post like one in the trivia threads nowadays XD. I don't have a set post goal or anything, I just like to post, althrough maybe one day I will be at loco's post count level but hey it comes with time hehe. ^-^

I post where there is interest. Topics such as these, while perhaps "postwhorish" in a way, are at least interesting enough to let you get a glimpse inside the heads of others. Our General Chat section has been in dire need of topics that don't blow hard lately, and you're delivering, so I really can't complain.

I never really cared much about the number. Most of the time, I just look at it and say to myself, "wow... that's a hell of a lot of posts. When did I ever have time for this?" I only post where there is something worth saying, and skip everything else.

There was one time where Neo and I were in a bit of a post race, but that was just for fun and it was only for about a week or so before I stopped caring. (I think it was because I had surpassed him at that point and didn't care to keep track.)

I can't say i ever really cared too much about my post count and it probably shows since i've been here 5 years or so and have just over 2,000 posts heh. I remember when i joined i was doing something like 20-30 posts a day, but that was because i liked to be active in the clubs i was in and always helped in the FFX section when topics were made... i guess some people could count that as post-whoring.

The only time i ever noticed my post count was probably when i hit 666, i screenshotted it and sent it to Dawezy , maybe 1,000 aswell since someone told me about it so i kinda had to notice it then >.>

By now I've pretty much forgotten all about my post count. I used to look at it to see how much I had. I remember when I got 666 posts too. That was pretty awesome. Yeah sometimes I fell like a "postwhore". Some of my posts aren't really of the highest quality especially compared to some of the TFF veterans. I usually try to post pretty good and detailed posts, but a great majority of my posts are in the Trivia threads and they seem to become kind of like spam sometimes. I like this topic. It makes me think about some of my past posts.

I've been at like 2950 posts for like two months now I think, I just deleted a few old posts for reasons I'll keep to myself.

I never try and increase mine but I do sometimes glance at it when I post merely out of interest. I never worry too much about how big they are because I don't bother replying unless I have something relevant to say. Hence I try to cut down on the Spam forum as it's pretty much just a chatroom now, I'd rather just go on MSN or mIRC or something.

When I was a n00b I cared a lot about my post count, I think a lot of people actually do when they first join. I don't even post as much as I used to so I don't think I care about it much anymore. Post counts aren't important anyway, it's the actual person who is posting. Some people when they first join up are total n00bs and can't post properly while there are others who say some very intelligent things so not all people are n00bs, only the ones who have absolutely no idea what they're doing and keep breaking the rules because of it lol. It's good to have a high post count though lol, I don't think that really gives you more respect or anything though. It doesn't do a lot at all! It's just a number.

Erm, I'm not sure.. if you keep posting topics in the GC section then perhaps yes! At least you are making decent topics and not 'Cloud vs Squall' or something like that.

Haha I remember the summer when TFF was really active and Neo, me and some other were just postwhoring our way in the tff boys club and some other random places.
TFF was more active back then though, but we did like 50-60 posts somedays I think, friggin crazy and spammish...but that was fun.

Not really a post-whore. I do have times when new threads come up that I've seemed to dominate the forum. But that is also because I post at 4:00 AM.

What am I now, a Summoner, right? That's a shame. I rather liked being a Dragoon. Oh well. There are people who joined months after me and their post count is double mine. So I wouldn't say it really matters to me.

I do like the fact that my reputation says I'm sipping tea with Black Mage as that is rather indicative of one of the things I would certainly be willing to do. Not looking forward to jumping rope with Freya. Calisthenics really isn't my bag.

Guess being a SeeD won't be too bad. Better than a Summoner. Dodgy people, Summoners. Wear way too many bad hats.

I seem to post an awful lot....
But yeah, I don't do it for a number of posts, I post heaps because I like getting my opinion/say in.

This is due to me being very interested in what effect my input may have on other's views on an issue as well as how my own views would relate to others. I like to go over what others think to help shape my own understanding. As for why I've stayed as long as I have, it's due to the higher proportion of higher level thinking I see in action. A lot more interesting than flaming forums and the like.

As for whether or not you are being a post whore, I'd say to look at the number of years you've been a member as well as your total post count. It seems that you haven't made enough posts if anything.
