English Premier League Football

We have a thread for NFL football so I thought it would be a great idea to start a thread concerning the world's greatest game, soccer. Come here to discuss all there is to discuss about the best sport in the world.

My favorite team is Manchester United. They are going to win the league this year just as they did last year. I was exceptionally pleased with the result against Chelsea. 2-0. W00T! Go Red Devils.

Not gonna happen with the way you've played so far this season.

The Chelsea game was the first time you've scored more than one goal (in a competitive game) and that was with some questionable refereeing against a team in turmoil. ;o

Arsenal for the trophy and Fabregas for at least the young player of the season!

I'm with Palazzo on this one, the way arsenal are playing its just awesome. They were great to watch in previous years, even though i don't support them, but this season they've started with a bang and its even better to watch. Denilson's goal against Newcastle (the team i support ) in the carling cup was amazing, we got so close to containing them XD.

I think Chelsea probably won't win it this year aswell, not without Mourinho. Liverpool have a chance this year though, if Rafa stops ****ing about with his squad... i mean who pays that kind of money for Torres and then leaves him on the bench, crazy guy.

Arsenal my friend is nothing without Henry. Why did he go to Barca in the first place? Because he wants to win stuff and Arsenal won't win anything of importance. Man U. and Chelsea are far too superior.

So far? hahaha the season barely started and United was 2nd the last time I saw the standings. Furthermore Tevez, Andersson and Nani needs to get more matches for the team while Hargreaves needs to get well.

With their number of talents I can't see how they wont win the Premiership this year as well and maybe Champions Legue (7-1 Vs Roma anyone?)

As for Liverpool and Torres, Liverpool is famous for ruining their strikers future and careers (Cissè, Pongolle, Garcia, Morientes and Baros anyone? ) I'm afraid it will be the same for Fernando, pity, talented guy.

That 7-1 victory over Roma in the Champions league last year was probably the best game I ever saw United play. Roma had no answer for Ronaldo and Rooney.

Also Arsenal has a decent shot but as dV said it might be a little harder without Henry. Fabregas and van Persie will be the deciding factors.

True it is the first game with a result that exceeds one goal, however the team is starting to find their chemistry and you have to remember that Rooney and Ronaldo were out for most of the new season. Now that they are back on track, nothing can stop them now.

true the team need to gel and when we do we will be unstoppable but when a big player leaves a club they usually do well without him eg everton went 4th when they sold rooney united went 1st without horse face van nistlerooy and now arsenal they will probally finish 2nd behind united

What Arsenal lost this season, was a player who scored around 20-30 goals each year in the Premier League. Any moron knows a player like that MUST be replaced. While I got great respect for Fabregas, Van Persie and Adebayor I don't see any of those being able to fill Henry's shoes.

Henry is probably the best player to play in the Premiership recent years.

Vivi, United hardly used Van Nistelroy in his final year, it was mostly Rooney, Saha and Smith up there. Now I think it is Saha who will struggle getting matches, much because he's prone to injuries and Fergie knows this. He also knows he is an important player so he don't want him injured.

My choice would primarily be Rooney+Tevez on top, I'm pretty sure they equal a lot of goals. Andersson will be exiting too

Actually he left Real Madrid because he was starting to dislike the club and its players. He came to the states because he heard that teams here like to spend time together even when they are not on the field. He likes the idea of a teammate inviting him over for a barbecue. Plus it was a great opportunity to spread the word about the joys of footy here in the states. He wants soccer to be big here just like it is all around the world.

Victoria just helped influence his decision.

you make a good point but i do dislike becks for many reasons he has the gayest voice almost 95% of brits will agree also as soon as he left united didnt win anything for a year or 2 but i actually didnt think that i supose he does want soccer to be big but you have to admit it victoria probally is a bigger star than he is as she was in the spice girls amd made a BIG influence.

I think the fact that we've scored the most goals in the league so far (15 in 6 matches) pretty much nullifies that statement.

Besides, what has Henry done since he left us?

Played: 6

Scored: 1

Whereas, Van Persie:

Played: 7

Scored: 3

Hell, even Fabregas:

Played: 9

Scored: 7

Somehow I think we're covered.
