I'll admit that I don't really follow the UK or Euro circuits as much as I did a few years back, so I wouldn't know any specific names. I don't really like watching the game unless it's International play, and even then, I tend to miss it most of the time.
I prefer actually PLAYING the game. Who wants to watch a sport when you can get out there and do it yourself? At the very least, if I want to see a game, I'd like to be able to do it in person. It's a shame that can't always happen though. I used to play football (soccer, whatever you want to call it) regularly, for fun and on teams, back when I was younger and able to do so. Now I can't do much of any sporting, so I just attend a few games to watch when I can. Here in the States, I'm a big fan of collegiate-level. |

I like watching a game on occasion, but I don't really follow any particular team (apart from local club Viborg FF which plays in the best Danish league). I just like to watch whatever team is playing good football at the moment. Arsenal and Real Madrid in particular have been a pleasure to watch this year.

I'm also a big football fan, though my favorite team if from Germany (understandably). If anyone is truly a football fan, they should have at least heard of Borussia Mönchengladbach at some point, especially for there golden streak in the 70s where they were quite literally one of the best teams in the world. Nowadays, they have pulled back considerably and were subject to a decrease into the second Bundesliga last season, but currently, they are at the top of the second league and show promise to advance up to the 1. Bundesliga again next season.
Although I am a big fan of German soccer, I also highly praise Premier League football games. I don't necassarily have a favorite team (except for Celtic Glasgow in the Scottish PL) but I generally like the more aggressive play of the Brits in comparison to other countries. Furthermore, the referees don't fackin' blow their whistles every time someone falls down, which greatly adds to the flow of the game. In contrast, other games are always very slow in progression because every damn second the game's being stopped because some idiot threw himself on the ground in a n attempt to get a foul called. And although it is definitely more aggressive football, it's still healthy and only out of sheer determination, and not because the players want to foul the others purposely. Compare that to all those damn Italians, Spaniards, etc. that foul behind the referees back or provoke other players with dirty tactics (refer to Materazzi vs. Zidane affair). They do it continuously and it fucking pisses me off that they always get away with it. ![]()

) and they prove determination time and time again, even if everything isn't working so great right now. Just so you know, Borussia is a very common word found in German football teams' names. It's similar to how F.C. is usually part of a British football team's name. Borussia is the Latin word for Prussia.Personally, I usually like the underdog so I hope none of those teams win the Champion's League.

I'd like to see Glasgow or Bremen win it. Which underdog is the best, is hard to say, especially since everyone defines an underdog differently. It would be nicer to see a different club win it for once though. Makes it more interesting.

Not to minimod, or whatever.
But may I ask why this thread hasn't been moved, seeing as it's in Member Business? >_> And to stay on topic. I don't watch many sports, at all, really. BUT! I do enjoy watching european football/soccer. It's odd, I generally cant stand watching sports on the tube, but I enjoy watching it. Now, I'm not a big follower, but if nothing else is on, I'm not sad it's the only thing on. |
