Are you honest?

So, I want to take a little poll and just kind of display a situation here, because its fun.

Its like, one of those moral questions polls, im sure we have them from time to time, but I really actually want to see what you would think?

So here is the setting. I ask this because it happened to me, and im sure Ill think of more substantial things to add to the post to make it a meaningful topic when I finish the story and the question...

So, I bought 4 tickets to go to a Dance performance my school is having this month (im going with 3 girls... ^^) and 2 more tickets to go to A Capella concert in November. (The concert is Vocal Point, best group in the nation according to this years competition for those who like that type of music like me).

So, here is the deal, I get home to check my credit card and it appears online they only charged me for the 2 A Capella tickets and not the 4 other one's. Just to throw in prices... it was $48 for the 4 Dance tickets and $14 for the 2 others... so... what would you do? Go back and pay for them or say, their loss their mistake and reap the rewards of $48 saved? If it puts it in perspective, put yourself on a college budget.

So yeah, ever run into these situations? The too much change type stuff... if you have any good stories like this, please share them too.

I personally am probably going to go back and check the error over, make sure I paid... but thats because... i'm me.

That's kinda a substantial amount of money they would've lost out on, I'd say. That's something they might look up again later to see where the money went, and some poor schmuck might get in trouble for it. That would be sad. Plus, I don't know how, but being dishonest could come back to haunt you at a later date. If not for anything else, just from your conscience telling you "you're a bastard." Or divine justice. In any case, I'd try to be honest. Anyhoo...

Being honest, personally I'd probably not inform them of their mistake.
I mean, you pay exorbitant prices so many times for various things, taking advantage of a situation like this can't be that bad...

I know morally wrong and all, BUT seriously, the amount we get screwed over by various things including extorted prices it's only fair we take a little back at times. Just my opinion.

Ideally I'd like to say yes, but in reality, the answer would probably be no.
My logic would most likely be similar to celtic's: We've been taken advantage of in how much is charged for this sort of thing for a long time, and even more so recently, so if they've made the mistake, then it's their loss. I know it's not right morally, but egocentrically, it would benefit my finances considerably, assuming the college budget. Even more so considering the one a really have.
Although, it's really impossible to say, considering my mood affects a lot of my decisions. If something good had happened, I'd probably call 'em up. But most of the time, I guess not.
Don't get me wrong: I don't go around lying at the drop of a hat, and generally I'm open and honest (occasionally to my downfall when it comes to people I dislike), but I suppose it's a little like downloading mp3s. If you bite the hand that feeds you ...

I am honest.

I'm honest because whenever I do happen to tell a white lie, I feel gut wrenching guilt. That's I just avoid it now.

However, to shop owners that I don't know, if they make a mistake with money in which I am getting more/saving more than spending, I would white lie. Only because I'm not rich.

I'm an asshole, so yeah I'd keep the tickets and wouldn't pay, cause hell tickets are expensive in general and I'm sure they won't miss the money in the long run. Big chance the guy at the ticket counter is stealing money from somebody else's desk anyways already, so meh shit happens, they shouldn't have ****ed up.

On a sidenote, if I actually know the person that made an error moneywise then I would always pay up, but since I wouldn't know these people I simpley wouldn't care.

I'd keep that $48 and say it's their loss. We've got to pay so much for all sorts of junk, so a little profit on our ends are just fine to me. I mean, if you are an honest person and want to go and do something like pay them back. I'm just talking about myself here. But I only do that with stores and shops. It really depends on where I am and how I'm feeling. If it's a little old lady selling my stuff honestly with good prices, and she accidentally gives me a twenty instead of a ten as chance, my gut says give it back. If this happens with a crooked man that's been trying to scam me and only settled on that price because I yelled at him, I'm keeping the extra ten.

Besides, those concert tickets are always overpriced. I have to buy some for like twenty dollars just to watch a tiny band that only ten people (including me since I like small groups) come to watch. The have more than enough extra in their pockets that I'm pretty sure they won't even notice.

Heck no, Way I see it if you were to go back and go to the effort and time of reminding them about their mistake and correcting it, you might as well just keep the money. Save yourself the trouble and $48 is better then then a warm tingly feeling that you did the right thing, I mean how long does that last. It makes you happy for like 5 minutes. I could find more happiness with $48 for sure. I would go and do something awesome with it and thank my lucky stars that other people are so stupid, yeah!!

So I picked no, I would not return to pay them. I have a few reasons for this. One of which is because the system always has a state of equalibrium at any given time. Mony lost here is gained there. In the long run, nobody is being hurt, it is all flattening out. Secondly, perhaps it was fate that gave you that money? Maybe you're going to save someone's life with it somehow... LMFAO!!!! Okay, that was COMPLETE BS but it sounds heart felt.

Seriously though, I see people getting screwed time and time again, therefor karmatically it is only right to have it given back at one point or another.
