NFL Football

Sports threads come and go here, it seems. But this is important stuff.

Who else are big NFL fans?

My Dolphins are 0-2. Very sad. I always have my back-up team (The Colts, who I have liked before their perennial greatness), but it is painful to watch.

Looks like the Patriots are going to go undefeated.

Who else loves Sunday football?

My Cowboys are 2-0 for the first time since 1999. They kicked some Dolphin butt today, 37-20. Dolphins just didn't seem like they had what it takes to take on the caliber of team such as the Dallas Cowboys. In the beginning of the game the Dolphins looked as though the could handle the competition, but as the game came closer to ending, they just got tired. Go Cowboys! w00t!

I had to work yesterday morning through yesterday afternoon, and then I went with my family to Portland, so I didn't get to see much football. Looking up yesterday's scores tells me that Green Bay has one again, however. In much better fasion than last week, too.I don't know how good the Giants are this year (particularly without their starting quarterback) but yeah.

I see the Bengals lost... against the Browns, no less. Oh well; at least former Oregon State QB Derek Anderson looked good. It's crazy that he's a starter now; he did not seem destined for that in his last year here. The U of O fans used to call him "Anderception." He does have something like the second most yards of a Pac 10 QB of all time, however. He had a much better year his senior year, too; he just never had much mobility, and he still threw like 11 or so interceptions that year.

I really hope the Patriots don't go to the Super Bowl again this year; I'm getting so tired of them. The Colts, too. Anyhoo...

Anyone but the Patriots. Please.

The Dolphins had a lead for awhile. They just don't have the drive. I really hope they tank and get Brian Brohm next year. With my luck, they will win 3 games and not beat out the Chiefs for worst team in the league.

Well its cool to have threads like this. Although i'm more of a CFL fanatic, i do i love some intense NFL games from time to time.

This year, i thought maybe the Dolphins would maybe make wild card but much to my disappointment they cannot win a game...*cries*

Although this year i'm pretty sure the winner will be ither the Patriots, Steelers or Colts. Not to take any credit from the Dallas Cowboys, but they will eventually be stopped. I'm a little surprised about the Titans and the Saints..i really thought they would do better...

My favorite football team is the Packers which are 2-0 right now, first time 2-0 since 2001 season. I'm really surprised with the Packers defense this year. Hoping for a Super Bowl win this year or at least make it to the playoffs.

I think they always had talent there. I mean, come on; they've had Nick Barnett since... whatever year that was (he's from Oregon State.) Seriously, in like 2003 or 2004, their defense was pretty good. So was the offense. Things just went downhill for some reason. I'll always remember one embarrasing play, however, where one of the defensive players had a hold of a guy's arm for like thirty yards and couldn't bring him down. Anyhoo...

My team is the SF 49ers. I live in the SF Bay area, and who the hell wants to root for the Raiders... they're scary... Plus i'm originally from Salt Lake City and SF tends to get QBs from Utah

edit: 49ers are also 2-0 for the first time since 1999 (like the cowboys) but it might be a fluke.

I saw the tail end of that game. They had a chance, kinda... until that traitor Najeh Davenport scored that last touchdown. The jerk. Sorry K.

I saw through the score board updates, however, that the Pack is back. Or San Diego just isn't that good this year. But Favre has tied Marino's record for like 420 TD passes. Yay! Also, the defense must've done something right afterwards, because the score went from 24-21 to 31-21. Way to go, Pack. Way to go.

Meanwhile, Cincinnati is playing Seattle. I don't know how they got down there, but Seattle scored a touchdown on a 28 yard drive... Cincinnati responded with a touchdown, and things were looking good... until TJ Houshmandzadeh fumbled at his own 30-some yard line. I was like, "Okay, that's enough for me for now." Also, the cameras were on some Seattle fan with huge hair, leaning out over the railing and screaming. I think he's my hero as far as crazed fans go; I want to be like him when I grow up. Anyhoo...

Congratulations to Brett Favre for tying Marino's record, but it should be noted that it took Favre two more games, and he is close to breaking the all time interception record set by a guy that played for twenty five years (George Blanda.)

Week 3 was a big one. We saw who came back down to Earth (Chargers, Bears) and a few surprises (Cowboys at 3-0)

Pretty much, right now, I'm just watching football because I'm bored and have nothing else to do. Some teams that I saw that won are 3-0 like Cowboys, Colts and Patriots.

I have been watching all the New England Patriots games and they've had the same final score 38 in the first 3 games they have played.

Dude the bears are looking ugly out there... how the hell did they get to the super bowl with Rex Grossman leading them. They need to bench that guy.

Anyways, yeah I was watching SF and they actually looked good on a few drives. It opened up in the 4th because SF had to get desperate and take more risks, which didn't work out. It was about that time my eyes switched to my buddy's game (we were at a sports bar for breakfast beers) where the Chargers were holding onto a lead. My buddy was nervous because the Cheese were at 1st and goal. then 2nd and goal... then 3rd and goal... then 4th and goal.. .then failed 2pt conversion!! haha.. there was much rejoicing on this side of the bar. 2 minutes left, Chargers had it locked up all they needed to do was run the clock... and then had the shortest drive of the game... from there its history... It was a fun game to watch.. what the hell happened to LT??? First pick in most fantasy leagues.

Man, the saints are just getting their butts kicked. They need to do something to start winning games. When I watched that game last night, there were lots of interceptions. It was still a good game tho.

I hear that. I loved the way the Saints changed last year and had a lot of spirit, but now they're just bending over. Same for the bears. The Cowboys are looking impressive though it is a bit early to tell who's going to be doing what. Hopefully things will get better in a few weeks.

My Seahawks are cutting it a little too close this season. After stomping the Bucs in week one, it was a close loss to the Cards in week two and a close victory over the Bengals in week three... they're going to need to step it up if they're hitting the playoffs this year.

I'd love to see them go all the way, but realistically I don't know if that can happen this season. It's not that they don't have the team to do it... but they don't seem to have the coordination and consistency required to do so.

How do you think I feel? I'm a Bears fan.

I think they're better than they've been playing, but it doesn't matter unless they show it. (Just like the Packers aren't as good as they've been playing -- and that's the football fan in me speaking, not just the Bears fan.) We go from the most dominating team in the Conference to 1-2 on the first three games. They have the talent, they have the experience, they have the leadership ... but they don't have a Quarterback. And that didn't bother 'em last year, but still, there's got to be a complete team on the field, not ten guys wondering how much Grossman will screw up.

I appreciate that the Bears management is trying to find a young QB to go with the franchise, but damn, there's only so far the fans can support him before they say "alright, find a veteran".

Welcome back Sasquatch.

Last weekend during the Bears/Cowboys game, the announcers were talking about Grossman's QB rating in several games; how he had like five 80-90 rated games, like three 50-40-0, and one 0 rated game. So he can play really good at times-look at the NFC championship game against the Saints last year-but he has no consistency. And I wouldn't put it all on him, either. What the hell happened to them in the Super Bowl, anyway? It was like they forgot the team they were two weeks prior to that game.

I will also agree about the Packers, in that I am a bit skeptical of their record. I don't know if the teams they have played this year are all that good anyway; the Chargers haven't been the same at all, the Giants haven't proven themselves and they were without their starting quarterback (weren't they?) and Philadelphia just played a really bad game that first week (the Packers did too, but yeah. Just enough to win.)

Cesar, I wouldn't feel so bad about that close win against the Bengals. They haven't been playing as well this year, but they are still a great team... offensively.

The Saints are really disappointing me this year, though. Definitely. Anyhoo...

@vivi: PLEASE, let's not turn this into some stupid trolling war over the name of the North American sport of "football." That is not what this topic is about, and if that's what it evolves into, warnings will have to be issued for trolling and flamebaiting. I know your post wasn't derogatory in any fashion, but it could lead to other posts that are.

If you would like to start a thread to discuss true football, feel free to do so.

We don't support slander here.
