| The Old Skool Warrior | To answer your questions: "Derogatory," at its very basic definition, is synonymous with negative. Basically, I was asking you to avoid making negative comments in regards to North American Football as it would only detract from the purpose of the thread. And yes, I do like football/soccer. I much prefer to play it over the American-style game, but again, that is a topic for a different thread. If you wish to discuss that sport, please start a new topic. | ||||||||

Loco, the Seahawks won't win the NFC West. I think the 49ers are due. And if they make the wild card, they aren't getting past the Cowboys. They just look amazing already.

| The Old Skool Warrior | Everyone said the Seahawks couldn't get past the Cowboys and that the Cowboys were going to win the NFC title last year, too. We all know where that ended up. It's why I can't wear my Seahawks jerseys around town without worrying about some rabid Cowboys fan kicking me in the balls for betraying the home team. All the same, I'm not expecting the Seahawks to win the conference, let alone the division -- but I do expect a few upsets come playoff time. Maybe this season, they won't crap out in the second round. They freaking had that game... | ||||||||

Inventory | I'm just glad the Cowboys got the win over the Bears. It seemed like the referees were on Chicago's payroll. Especially the sack that ended the half that shoulda kept at least 2 seconds on the clock. The Cowboys could've kicked a last second field goal to pull ahead. Stupid ref should've whistled to stop the clock AFTER fourth down but he waved the clock to keep ticking. Plus there were many penalties getting called for Dallas but when the Bears would do the same thing the ref wouldn't even throw the flag. The Bears aren't even going to make the playoffs. They get help from the zebras and still can't win a game. Last edited by dimmufan; 09-30-2007 at 09:45 PM..

Inventory | (Wow, using the net on the Wii is a pain in the ass.) Anyhoo, though it would probably make K sad, I don't think the 49'ers are destined for a divisional championship this year either. A wildcard birth? Maybe. They haven't proven themselves against a good team yet, however, which the Seahawks have (kinda) against the Bengals. The Bengals have struggled but have been good in the past. Their win is against the Ravens, a team I wouldn't take lightly. Furthermore, I'm not sure about records league wide, but I do know the Seahawks are 3-0, while SF is like 2-1. Okay, done posting using my Wii. Never again. Wuv, Yer Mom EDIT: Oh wait, nevermind, the Seahawks lost to the Cardinals. I don't know everything I think I do. Still, I'm not sold on SF just yet. Last edited by Telegraph; 09-25-2007 at 04:41 PM.. | The Old Skool Warrior | Seahawks are 2-1, not 3-0. I mentioned that in my earlier post. I'd be way more excited if the 'hawks were undefeated, but thus far it's been too close the past two weeks to really make any solid predictions on how the team may fare the rest of the season.

Inventory | Remember that San Fran swept the Seahawks last year. In a close divisional race, that is huge. Its all for nothing, though. The Patriots are going to win the Super Bowl. It hurts so much to say those words, but its true.

Inventory | So, what a day of NFL football. Favre now has the record for career touchdown passes at 422 and the Pack are out to a 4-0 start. Unfortunately, Dallas is also 4-0... never cared for them. The Browns upset the Ravens 27-13, giving my man Derek Anderson another chance to shine (2 TD's and 204 yards. Though he did have an interception...) Arizona upset the Steelers; interesting turn of events. Good for Kurt Warner. The freaking Broncos blew a 14-0 lead to lose like 35-20 to the Colts. I don't know what the final score was, but that's the last I saw of that game. I wonder what's happened to them. Maybe the Colts are just that good. I don't like admitting it, but it's probably true. In that same time frame, however, Seattle goes down to San Fransisco and hands the 9ers a 23-3 loss. I saw that Alex Smith got injured early on, but I don't know if that made a huge difference; the defense looked like it was all over that offense, and Dilfer isn't that bad of a quarterback; I don't care what anyone says about him. He was the starting quarterback for the Titans team that went to the Super Bowl until they benched him in favor of McNair, and he was also Baltimore's QB when they won their Super Bowl. He can't be that bad. I'd say one game doesn't say much about the rest of the season (there's still three months to go, eh?) However, for Seattle to go down and win the way they did over 49ers, I'd say that I feel even better about their chances in the NFC West in the long run. I guess the Lions are 3-1 this year. How did that happen? I see they beat Oakland and Minnesota, got slaughtered by Philadelphia, and then beat the Bears today. Are they really as good as their 3-1 record? Are the Packers really as good as their 4-0 record? Are the Bears really as bad as their 1-3 record? The Lions scored 34 points on them in the 4th, which apparently is an NFL record. Rounding out the NFC North are the Vikings, who don't look too great this year either. So I guess it's down to the Packers and the Lions, eh? My money's on the Pack. Anyhoo... Inventory | The Dolphins are effing 0-4. Culpepper comes back to town and scores five touchdowns (two passing, three rushing.) I feel sick. But, in other Florida news, the Bucs are 3-1. I guess I will have to root for them this season.

Inventory | HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS!? They were friggin awesome today. Except for the first quarter, they played a pretty good game today. They beat the Rams to go 4-0 and now the Rams are 0-4. They are on track for an undefeated 16-0 season. With the way the're beating teams I see no reason why they couldn't go undefeated. Little wonder why they are called America's Team.

| Does what you can't. | I feel like Howard Dean. YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Bears beat the Packers! And here's why that's important... I believe the Bears' record doesn't reflect their team. They're better than 1-3. Tonight, the real Bears showed up. I also believe the Packers' record doesn't reflect their team -- they're not a 4-0 team, even against the teams they faced. They're not that good. Tonight ... they were brought back down to Earth. The Packers were undefeated (4-0) earlier today, and now they're not. And even moreso, the Bears handed them their first loss of the season. Brett Favre, as good of a guy and as good of a QB as he is, got a lot of publicity from breaking the career TD record. Now he has another record -- the Bears helped him tie the career interception record. The Bears this season had a habit of, to put it bluntly, s***ting out in the second half. Tonight, they showed up to play an entire football game. Last season, the Bears defense had it laid out, and they took control. This season, that hasn't been the case. While they did give up a decent number of points and a lot of yards tonight (especially in the first quarter), they're getting back to true Bears fashion -- protect against the short gain, and go for turnovers. And last but not least ... I live in Wisconsin. Most of my friends here are Packer fans. So even though they have a better record (for now) than the Bears do, I still have plenty to talk trash about now. So how did everybody else's teams do? | ||||||||

Inventory | I saw that Bears vs. Packers game. All 4 commentators from Inside The NFL chose the Bears to win against the Packers. Watching the first half of that game, I thought they were wrong. The Bears defense gave up close to 350 total yards in the first half alone. I kinda wanted the Bears to win that game and they pulled it off. All those interceptions and fumbles finally paid off for "Da Bears". 27-20 at Lambeau Field. That's something to brag about. We'll see how them Cowboys do tomorrow night.

I will never stop being a Denver fan, but I'm sick enough that I'm losing interest right now. They should have one of the best Ds in the NFL. They have the best one-two combo at corner. They have a solid (2 out of 3) linebacking unit. They just added two former pro bowlers on the D-line. They have one of the best safties to ever play the game. But they continue to disappoint. It doesn't even matter if the offense is producing or not when the D can't get the other team's O off the field. With a couple of wins by the skin of their teeth, they could just as easily be 0-5. But I'm looking for business to pick up soon. They need to get an 8th guy in the box to stop the run. Lynch is good enough to step up and help out. And on top of that, its only a matter of time before the Champ starts to shut down the passing game. So I see light at the end of the tunnel.

Inventory | This weekend was very disappointing for me. I don't think a single team that I root for won, although I could be forgettng someone. In college football my team actually won, but that's not what this is about. I got to see DA play against the Patriots... and he apparently threw 3 interceptions. He still had like two TD's and decent yardage though. Plus, the offensive line was doing a shitty job for him. And it's the freaking Patriots. It's still weird to think that he's even starting, though. I saw bits and pieces of the Packers/Bears game. I think I stopped watching when it got to be... 20-17, Packers? Or was it tied 20-20? I know it was right at the end of the third quarter. I had a bad feeling about it, so I didn't bother finishing watching it. Then I watched the end where they had one last chance to tie, and the ball was intercepted. Big disappointment. Anyhoo... Wuv, Yer Mom

Inventory | HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS?! Did anyone watch the Monday Night game between the Cowboys and the Bills? That was the game of the season right there. The only time the Cowboys were ahead of the Bills was in the last 2 seconds of the game right after they kicked the game winning field goal. Romo had a terrible game throwing 5 interceptions and also losing a fumble. Cowboys won the game 24-22. What a game. I think I lost three years of my life just stressing over who's gonna win.

Inventory | Well my Dallas Cowboys lost to the New England Patriots. It was horrible. I though Dallas was gonna keep up with them. Then the fourth quarter came around and that was all she wrote. Cowboys are now 5-1. I now officially do not like the Patriots. I hope they finish the season 6-10.

Inventory | Someone has to stop New England, right? It certainly doesn't seem possible right now. If the undefeated Cowboys can't do it, the only realistic chance lies with the Colts in November. The Cowboys still look Super Bowl bound, though. The Bears continue to lose, and the Packers barely edge out mediocre teams. My Dolphins had 41 points scored on them. By the Browns. It is disgusting how bad they are playing right now.

| The Old Skool Warrior | Part of me is happy that the Cowboys saw a loss... but to be honest, I would have been happier to see them pound the Patriots into the ground. The game was so close early on... what happened?! (No, seriously, I was at work all day and I have no idea what happened except for the updates I got from my customers.) If you could pinpoint a failure on the team's behalf, where would it be? Offense? Defense? Someone specific? Or was it just an all-around one-up? ...looks like both the Patriots and Cowboys are Super Bowl bound... problem is, only one can make it. If the records fall right, we could very well see them square off again in the Conference Championship game. And, forced to choose between the Cowboys and the Patriots... (whoever the AFC team is any day! I kid, I kid) I'd rather see the Cowboys for sure. The Seahawks disappoint me. What happened to last year's team? I'm gonna miss seeing Mack Strong on the field. Career-ending neck injuries FTL. | ||||||||
