What is your IQ

Yes I know Tickle isn't exactly the best source, but for shitz and giggles,

Tell is what your IQ is! Now don't be embarassed! Also, could you please tell us your age as well! Tickle is known to notoriously over estimate IQs of those under 18.

http://web.tickle.com/tests/uiq/index_main.jsp

Quote:
"Your IQ score is:136
You scored 136 on Tickle's IQ test. This means that based on your answers, your IQ score is between 126 and 136. Most people's IQs are between 70 and 130.
In fact, 95% of all people have IQs within that range. 68% of people score between 80 and 120. The following chart to your right, shows these percentages and where your IQ score is on that scale.

Your Intellectual Type Is:
Your mind's strengths allow you to think ahead of the game — to imagine or anticipate what should come next in just about any situation. Because you're equally skilled in the numerical and verbal universes of the brain, you can draw from multiple sources of information to come up with great ideas. The timelessness of your vision and the balance between your various skills are what make you a Visionary Philosopher.

In addition to your strengths in math and linguistics, you have a knack for matching and anticipating patterns. These skills and your uncanny ability to detect the underlying blueprint of most of life's situations add to your Visionary Philosopher mind.
Two philosophers who share the same combination of skills you possess are Plato and Benedict Spinoza. Spinoza had insight into how things worked in the world. He could envision a future based on the patterns he saw in life, and used mathematical logic as a structure within which to present his philosophical arguments. With that base he was able to use logic to formulate his theories. Borrowing from his linguistic strengths he wrote eloquent texts and, therefore, was able to bring his philosophical ideas and structure to the rest of the world. His story exemplifies the talents that are present in the Visionary Philosopher intellectual type.

Whatever you decide to do in life, you've got a powerful mix of skills and insight that can be applied in a wide variety of ways. You can expand your mind to understand a situation. Your strong balance of math and verbal skills will help you explain things to others. For example, if you were on an archaeological dig and discovered an object, you could probably use your deductive powers to figure out not only what the object was but also how it was used. Given your ability to put things together, you are more than capable of inventing a life plan that is in synch with your perspective on how things were, how they are, and how they might be one day.

Your 4 Intelligence Scales

Now let's look at the factors that contribute to you being a Visionary Philosopher with a 136 IQ score.

Based on the results of your test, Tickle divided your scores into four distinguishable dimensions — mathematical intelligence, visual-spatial intelligence, linguistic intelligence and logic intelligence.

Here's how each of your intelligence scores break down:
Mathematical Intelligence

Your Mathematical Percentile
You scored in the 100th percentile on the mathematical intelligence scale. This means that you scored higher than 90% - 100% of people who took the test and that 0% - 10% scored higher than you did. The scale above illustrates this visually.

Your mathematical intelligence score represents your combined ability to reason and calculate. You scored relatively high, which means you're probably the one your friends look to when splitting the lunch bill or calculating your waitresses' tip. You may or may not be known as a math whiz, but number crunching might come a little easier to you than it does others.

Visual-Spatial Intelligence

Your Visual-Spatial Percentile
You scored in the 100th percentile on the visual-spatial intelligence scale.
This means that you scored higher than 90% - 100% of people who took the test and that 0% - 10% scored higher than you did. The scale above illustrates this visually.

The visual-spatial component of intelligence measures your ability to extract a visual pattern and from that envision what should come next in a sequence. Your score was relatively high, which could mean that you're the one navigating the map when you're on an outing with friends. You have, in some capacity, an ability to think in pictures. Maybe this strength comes out in subtle ways, like how you play chess or form metaphors.

Linguistic Intelligence

Your Linguistic Percentile
You scored in the 100th percentile on the linguistic intelligence scale.
This means that you scored higher than 90% - 100% of people who took the test and that 0% - 10% scored higher than you did. The scale above illustrates this visually.

Linguistic abilities include reading, writing and communicating with words. Tickle's test measures knowledge of vocabulary, ease in completing word analogies and the ability to think critically about a statement based on its semantic structure. Your score was relatively high, which could mean you know your way around a bookstore and maybe like to bandy about the occasional 25-cent word to impress friends.

Logical Intelligence

Your Logical Percentile
You scored in the 100th percentile on the logical intelligence scale.
This means that you scored higher than 90% - 100% of people who took the test and that 0% - 10% scored higher than you did. The scale above illustrates this visually.

Tickle's logical intelligence questions assess your ability to think things through. The questions determine the extent to which you use reasoning and logic to determine the best solution to a problem. Your logic score was relatively high, which could mean that when the car breaks down, your friends look to you to help figure out not only what's wrong, but how to fix it and how you're going to get to the next gas station."
I got 4 wrong out of 40, it says, which is like.. meh.

This is fairly close to what I got when I my school had my 'properly' tested, where I got 142.

So! Tell us what you got! and if you got!

Please be honest. If you want to post anynomously, then I've added a private poll.

My father, god love him, he had me tested properly without the bell curve and I tested at a ratio IQ a little bit above 160.

It was an enormous pain in the ass, like chinese water torture.

Anyway, everbody was, supposedly, really impressed and it made the local tiny town trumpeter front page. We held a small party and embarrased the hell out of me in inventive and multiple ways...

I don't know if I really believe in any of it. I know the theory behind it and I personally think it's a tad rocky...Imo

Sorry, I don't like IQ tests- they straight-jacket people's expectations and are quite unrealistic, but if you must know, i am 42 and last time i was tested it was 192.

Besides, there's a lot more to intelligence then just knowledge

I'm not a fan of IQ tests either, I have never been tested properly but I have done a few online tests and they come up with a very different result every time. I'm sure they aren't very accurate but they're just a bit of fun. I tested myself a couple of months ago and got around 118 or something which isn't that great. That was on that Tickle site, it even said I was a genius at math which is complete bullshit. I totally failed math all through high school because I found it to be difficult and stupid. It also said that I would become a good architect or something, don't make me laugh.

IQ tests are just stupid in my opinion, every body is smart in their own special way. Everybody has their own special talents and ideas about everything. Showing off your IQ to everybody is lame in my opinion, people who do that just want to make other's feel dumb or stupid. I don't find myself to be very bright but I don't really care, what matters is that I try very hard at everything I do. I don't have to be highly intelligent to live my life.

Congratulations, Celtic!
Your IQ score is 135
This number is based on a scientific formula that compares how many questions you answered correctly on the Classic IQ Test relative to others.

Your Intellectual Type is Visionary Philosopher. This means you are highly intelligent and have a powerful mix of skills and insight that can be applied in a variety of different ways. Like Plato, your exceptional math and verbal skills make you very adept at explaining things to others — and at anticipating and predicting patterns. And that's just some of what we know about you from your IQ results.
I know what you mean by overscaling of "minors". I'm 17, and NOT that bright... Hell I'm the type who is almost permanently off his head. So as others have said before, I don't see this as being all that accurate.

Makes me look sortta good, though. Right?

One point below ol' Casanova.

This test did seem pretty dodgy in another way. It seemed to want me to pay for a more detailed 15 page report based on my results... Lame.

On a brighter note, congrats Sinister! 160.

I'm moving this. Sure it has things to do with Intelligence, but it belongs more in General Chat because it's not really an Intellectual discussion we're having.

Anyway, though...

I'm 137, just one point over Casanova.

It makes me wonder how they possibly calculate these tests and how they can be thought of as "accurate", Internet or no Internet.

Your IQ score is 153!

You are gifted with the natural fluency of a writer and the visual and spatial strengths of an artist. Those skills contribute to your creative and expressive mind. Insightful linguists can take complex concepts and articulate them to just about anyone. You have a gift with words and an insight into processes and the way people think.

These talents enable you to explain things clearly to people as you can conceptualise ideas internally and understand patterns on an abstract level.

I have to point out at this point that I don't believe this for a second and don't trust I.Q tests as I think they are a highly inacurate way of measuring knowledege because people are skilled in different area's. Also the thinks they put on that wesite are diliberatly pointless, I feel, as it doesn't reflect any everyday life things and no knowledge at all, practically.

In short, I dont believe it, lol.

Thanks, Aimee.

Well, this IQ test says i'm a dumbass as i've got a lower score than everyone else- 127!

The irony is that I got straight Bs at GCSE and am studying 3 A-levels, two of which are sciences, one i'm predicted a B. I can't really be that dumb, though not a brainbox either... maybe its the mathsy questions! xD

I actually want to do a proper IQ test sometime now and see what my actual IQ is...

I had already done that before.
The thing is that since it's in English, i couldn't understand everything it was asking for, even now, i still can't answer some questions & choose something by chance. For thr rest of them i am sure the answers are correct.

Anyways, i got a 129; i'll try to find a greek one & do the test again.

One IQ test I took said I had an IQ of 110, the other said 167.

A real IQ test I took when I was younger said that my IQ was 143, which I'm more likely to believe.

That is completely false. I too seem to have a much lower IQ than the average in my age category. Even though i still managed to burn most people at my high school, am currently in aprivate college and well..(lets face it..im actually gonna rant about myself) im pretty wise up there...

I don't think IQ determines whether you are a dumbass or a knowledgeable person. IQ tests are merely a test on specific questions. The only true meaning of IQ tests are if it is done correctly using a ide range of questions, a timer and a specific calculation.

Even so, it still meas little. After all, life is about what you have to learn, not what you have learned...
