Well my friend's mom passed away the other day,and i've been thinking alot. I never knew her mom but the wake is tomorrow and I think i'm going to go. I should be there to support her through this. What do you guys think? Should I go? I've never been to a wake or funeral except for in my family,I know a few other friends of mine will be there too. Me and Annie aren't as close as we used to be but I still care. Share your experiences and stuff if you wish. I just want to know your thoughts on if I should go or not. I don't like going because i never met her,but i want to go to support my friend, anyway what are your thoughts on this?

| Genocide Unfolds, I Forgive All | I think you should ask your friend if she wants you to go with her. Your appearence at the funeral could trigger any kind of reaction from your friend. She'll either appreciate the support greatly, or feel suffocated or insulted. Personally, I find the first one more logical, but I think it's important to consult her first. I've been to funerals. The most upsetting was my grandfathers' funeral. We were asked to close our eyes in prayer and memory of him, and then as we did, his coffin was rolled away into a room to be cremated. It was a bad day. I'll never forget the image of that coffin being rolled away.

| | Aye, asking is the best card to play, no question there. Sometimes there's no knowing what's the best thing to do when it comes various matters regarding funerals, so asking first is always the way forward. What's a wake anyway?

| Wicked | A wake is like a long moment of silence I believe. Its usually the day before the funeral and its when you sit down in a church and just pray and think of the good memories you have had with your loved one that passed. They also usually have a collage of pictures too I believe. At least that's what they had when I go to wakes..... Anyways, I think you should consult your friend like Chez has mentioned Rikkuffx before going. She must be really taking it hard since it is her mom and she probably needs some support right now of what she is going through. I doubt that she'll be offended if you decide to go since you're going for her to be there for her and yeah. I really don't like going to funerals whenever someone passes away because its just so depreesing. Just seeing their body in the casket makes me think of the good times I've had with that person and it just sucks. Even though I know that all their pain and suffering is gone and that they are in a better place, its just sad to never see them again.....

| An RKO Production... | I instinctively dread these sort of events. I can't stand being choked with people I've never met telling me how tall I've gotten or such in such a negatively charged atmosphere of depressing emotion. I have no argument against shedding tears for the departed. Though I'm sure there are arguments out there. But unless it is someone that I personally know, I tend not to go. Most of my friends understand this reticence because it's something they share. But if it means that much to a friend, then there are no lengths to which I would not go. I love and adore my friends and they are very special people to me. If even the least among them needed my support, then I would go.
