Cannabis Granny!

Well, pretty much everyone who lives in the UK will know of this as it's been all over the news. However, its so funny and so amazing (in the opinion of myself and my friends anyway) that I had to share it.

Recently, 66 year old Patricia Tabram from Northumberland was taken to jail after authorties found out that she was growing and taking the illegal drug. She claims that she no longer trusts medicenes prescribed by the NHS. She takes marijuana 5 times a day, often a teaspoon of it mixed in hot chocolate. She had been suffering from neck and back pain, and taking cannabis 5 times a day has made her feel great. She says that she should not be arrested for her own form of pain releif, and even didn't seem to mind going to prison, claiming that she'd be "everyone's granny". She is currently trying to legalise the drug, and is hoping to get a book published called 'Grandma Eats Cannibis".

So, what do you people think of the Cannabis gran?

Apart from having a laugh about it with my friends, we have all decided that she is an amazing woman. I feel that she should be allowed to take the drug as pain relief, and since it makes her happy, she should be allowed to have it. She is aware of the side-effects, and as with everything, as long as you know what may happen, its the individual's choice whether they want to do it or not. I'm personally a non-drugging non-drinking non-smoking type, yet still think that if someone wants to take it, they should have the freedom to do so. This brave pensioner speaks her mind, and I say good for her!

I like people like her. I know a few. In a lot of places, there's networks of people like her who suffer from MS, Lupus, and many other diseases which cause extreme physical pain.

I support them, and everything they do. My mother used to be one of them, before her Lupus eased up a bit. It's in remission, and has been for a few years now.

I hate it when they get arrested! Can't the police just turn a blind eye? Dope is known for being the best thing to relieve pain. They're not druggies, and they're not addicted. They're just medicating themselves because, as the true saying goes, the drugs don't work.

Legalise it. If they can't do that, then at least let doctors prescribe it to people who suffer from diseases such as MS and Lupus. They'd have checks and balances for these people, so that they could get the treatment they want without the risk of police involvement.

I mean, I'm all up for loving trees and being a generally peace-loving hippy, but this old lady is one trendy mamma.

I don't believe theres anything wrong with self-medicating. I don't believe that cannibis should be illegal, either.

The drug helps with pain. The negative side effects may not be great, but lets face it; it's not life threatening, and it's not really hurting anybody.

Well it is kind of a wonder its still illegal in a lot of places however thats probably partly due to it being a gateway drug, though surprisingly I have met a few stoners who stay far away from the harsher stuff. Also some of you may know I have my tremors, my brother also does and he smokes it to keep his hands steady (However apparently alcohol is more effective).

If it makes her feel better then why shouldn't she, she is old so there is not much point in taking away from her, if I stumbled across such a thing I would keep quiet about it. Good on her.

That's pretty great and cool news. I've heard of similar stories here in the US, but nothing like this making such big news. I got this from her blog.

I am the grandma who eats cannabis because I get 24 hour pain relief. I had a car accident in 1975 and after 29 years of NHS medication I discovered cannabis and this is the only medium which has kept me pain free and rid me of all the side effects I had gathered from the NHS medication

Hell yeah that's my kind of woman right there! , that is one pretty hip grandma though and if it's helping her pain then why take that away from her? That really would be crazy to smoke with a grandma like that..I've smoked with dads, but grandmas would be something new for me.

I'd like to get some of those recipes from her too, I've never heard of people mixing it in with hot chocolate, that almost doesn't seem like it would work too well. Actually, if the water wasn't hot, it wouldnt work at all seeing as marijuana doesnt dissolve in water well at all (THC is not water soluble). I don't think hot drinks would have much of an effect in comparison with brownies, cookies, etc. Butter and vegetable oil are the two best and easiest ways to extract THC so brownies all the way! I'd let her make me a batch any day of the week

But seriously, we were given the ability to make our own decisions by the powers that be, so as long as granny wasn't some sort of violent stoner granny, she should be able to do what ever she pleases.

Some laws are for the good of all. Some are just stupid, or should only apply in some cases.

But then again, without enforcement there is chaos. And that ain't always a good thing....

This really isn't the easiest issue to give an opinion of.....
