Cakes or Pies

In my opinion I definetly prefer Cakes over Pies. I think they have a better texture and hold up better. Also when someone says "whats your favorite cake?" a lot more things fly into my head than if you asked "whats your favorite pie?".

Not to say I don't like pie, there is some great pie out there, but there is no comparison for me. Cakes have always been the king of dessert food, one with magical powers that can bring anyone together. Let's just put it this way:

"Pie can't compete with cake. Put candles in a cake, it's a birthday cake; put candles in a pie…and someone's drunk in the kitchen."

Yeah I voted cakes too. There is a much wider variety of them and you can customize them in so many ways. Pies are just boring, you get apple pie, which consists of pastry and apples whereas a cake there is so much more to them, you can have a variety of different jams or fruits, cream, sugar or icing...they are just much better.

The only pies I really liked were the cherry pie or the boston cream pie and the boston cream pie is actually a cake!

Actually, they both are. Cream cake, with gorgeous apple and pastry... ooooh... I love danishes. They're like... sex, in food form. Not that I'm into food sex or anything, but you get how I mean.

I voted pies.

I'm a great lover of apple, pumpkin and rhubarb pudding pie-wise.

But mince meat and onion is always loved as well. FUnny, considering I won't eat onion in anything else. Hm.

Ohhhh... There's more variety of cake, so that's cool, but yeah. I cook pie a lot more, so I'm used to my own cooking in that respect.
If you come to my house, there's a good chance you'll catch me baking something sweet.

Apple pie, hot or cold, dolloped with custard. There's nothing better. Cake's all well and good, but it doesn't please me to the extent pie does. Pie is versatile too. Meat pie for main course, fruit pie for dessert. Both are supreme.

Haha I rarely eat any pie so cakes all the way! I try not to eat too much cake because obviously it's very fattening. I love vanilla and buttercakes, they are so good. I love to icing them and make them look pretty but I usually make a mess of them in the end. I love rainbow cake as well, that would have to be another one of my favourites.

Sometimes icing on a cake is too much, too sweet! I buy cakes at the grocery store and they stack too much icing on there, it's enough to make you sick. I'd have to vote cake though because it's just too delicious.

I've never reallly liked pie except perhaps apple pie. I still choose cake coz it has a wider selection and tastes nicer. ^_^

Pie FTW!!!! Cake is overrated

New Zealand has some of the best pies in the world and is a part of everybodies diet here. A Good ole` steak & cheese pie or Mince & Cheese are the best, I used to live off them when I went to high school. The Bacon & Egg ones are also quite good when they are nice and fresh. Also In my home town the pies go for a mere $1 for the Irvines pies and $2.20 for the Manawatu Pies but it really depends which you go to and what they have in the warmers at that time.

I'm a fatass okay. I love eating cake and pies. My favorite pie would either be Banana Cream, Apple, or Pumpkin Pie. I like Cherry and Blueberry pie too. However, I'm gonna have to go with cakes. You can do a lot more with cakes then pies. You can decorate them, put candles in them(That reminds me of what Dyluck said in his post), and shit.

And plus cakes more delicious. All that frosting and sugar is so damn good!

Pie's Rule. The name in itself is awesome. Pie! Want some Pie! American Pie! Apple Pie! Pie in numbers! I love Pie. Cake is much to sweet for me. Unless it is ice cream Cake. Then it is okay. I hate icing with a passion. ^^ Pie is a little better for you too. They have Apple Pie, Blueberry Pie, Lemon Pie, Strawberry Pie. So many different fruit ideas! I have worked in a bakery for the longest time, and have been around cake so much I have literally lost my taste for the stuff. Love to make them, but hate to eat them. Pie is awesome. Anyone want some Pie? Pie an Tea? Coffee an Pie? Yummy Yummy!

I just got back from my friend's house and we had a nice sunday roast...with APPLE PIE for dessert. It was absolutely perfect! So although I voted for cakes, if you had put cakes or apple pie? I would have chosen apple pie because although I think overall cakes are better than pies...apple pie rules! Hot or cold!!

My vote would have been dead certain for pie except for one not-so-little problem...
CARROT CAKE!!! tops the best pie I've ever even heard of without even breaking a sweat. There is no desert, be it pie or pudding, that can withstand the madness of a CARROT CAKE!!!

I don't like apple pie! I know many people will be like 'WHAT?!'
Actually, I've never tried it. Here's something about me, I am one of the fussiest eaters in the world. If not, then I should be! I was terrible when I was a baby, I rarely ate anything. If it was for milk, I would probably be dead! I'm a LOT better than I used to be but I'm still fairly fussy. There are some things I just won't try because I know I won't like them. Apple pie has always looked pretty gross to me so I never had it. My cousin is the same except she's probably a little worse.

All she eats is fatty foods. Her and her father have take-away food way too often. She doesn't eat any vegetables or fruit. I eat..some vegetables. I love salad, I love it! She hates it! Her Dad... he's even worse than the both of us combined. It's quite insane.

Anyways, I'm fussy but I love cake. I think almost everybody loves cake!

I like meat pies but this is a dessert thread.. well seems like it. Meat pies are very, very popular here. I think they are an Australian icon. I have been told what type of meat they put in there and.. YUK! They still taste good though.
