Marmite...hate it or love it?

Basically, the other day I was at my friend's house and we was making lunch and I asked him what he had to put in sandwiches. He said "jam..peanut butter, pickle, cheese, marmite...I was like eww marmite and he couldn't believe I didn't like it...so i decided I would post a thread seeing whether most people like marmite or if they don't.

I don't have Marmite, I have Vegemite. It was owned by Australia but for some odd reason the Americans bought it. The funny thing is that the Americans hate the stuff.

I have loved Vegemite since I was only small. It has a very strong taste but I rather like it. It's not a good idea to have a big spoon full of it though, that might be a bit gross. I don't have it as much as I used to but I still think it's great. It doesn't melt like butter and the toast stays nice and crunchy unlike butter. Butter makes my toast go all soggy and I can't stand that.

I hate having butter on toast too, I agree, it makes the toast go all soggy, but my solution is different. I have peanut butter I always spread on a lot aswell so there is no chance of the toast going soggy. Peanut Butter is quite thick and it tastes better than Vegemite or Marmite

Marmite!? what the hell's marmite! It's an aussie invention and it's called vegiemite. Any red blooded Aussie loves vegiemite. And I dont.. so i spose i'm not your red blooded Aussie? :s

Well Im glad you agree with me but in England we call it Marmite and I know no different!!! At least we agree on something though...

I love Marmite. I've tasted Vegemite before, it's not much different. Little thicker maybe.

I grew up on both, the odd thing was I preferred Marmite over Vegemite for the most part until recently I tried it for a change to remember what it tastes like and its not that differant, not quite as "tangy" though. Also I love it when my toast is soggy, I hate burnt and crusty toast.

I go into withdrawl symptoms without Marmite. I was raised on the stuff, and love it.

I don't like Vegemite at all, however. It's just not Marmite. It's far more solid, and doesn't taste as good. There is a difference between the two. We had to eat Vegemite when we were in Spain; toast just isn't the same without Marmite.

Seriously. Import it or something.

Funny, considering I now abhor the stuff.

I guess I'm one of few Marmite cases, but yeah... I really just hate the stuff now. It's like pickle, mixed with shit. In my opinion. Man, I just... don't have anything else to say.

I knew my grandma would agree with me! I didn't think there was much of a difference between Marmite and vegemite but it looks like there is.

I see it all the time at the grocery store, but I've yet to get the nerve up to try it.

I hear it's really salty. I like salt, but not alot of it. I also hate when the margerine turns the toast soggy. Although, if you use the right kind of it, it won't make it go like that.

I find that the best one is the original Becel, in the yellow tub. Yummy yummy.

Has anyone tried the Chocolate Peanut Butter? My friend says it's to die for.

I hate marmite, it is (in my eyes) disgusting.

i tried it wen i was about 12 and nearlly gagged.
