Anyone here play poker?

Hey I love poker and I was wondering if there was anyone here who plays poker. If so, do you play online? Real money or Play money? Do you ever play live games with friends or at pubs?

If you don't play poker, feel free to still post here and say if you are considering trying it or maybe why you don't play.

I play, but not Texas_ass Hold-em.

I play spit in the ocean, Five card draw, five/six/seven card stud.

I do play for money. Dollar ante(about once a year)

5 card draw is my favorite. Better watch out, I'm touchy about Texas Hold em

In America there's a big craze for Texas Hold Em and sometimes when theres nothing else on it kills me to watch it! I'll stay up til three in the morning watching these guys play poker and I've gotten where I'm sick of it.

BTW in case your wondering, I don't really consider Poker as gambling because I do it between friends, it involves skills(unlike say slots or that wheel game) and it really never amounts to anything because my friends and I never have much money to spend on that sort of thing. (it's only, like I said, once a year anyway)

I agree, in the way your playing it isn't really gambling, more a social gathering lol but of course people can lose heaps of money playing poker at casinos when playing at high stakes.

I think that poker is a slightly more accepted form of gambling compared to the likes of slots, roulette (or as OT puts it; that wheel game, very well put btw

) it involves more skill rather than being based on shear luck which can get very very addictive the more you play it.

Also I was watching a program based on getting addicted to gambling and the manager of the casino was saying how he is happy when he sees people win money from his casino because it makes them come back and the more they come back, the more chance they have of losing money to him. He also said that when you get the people who are very skilled at games like poker, and win masses of money, he just bans them from coming to the casino which is totally legal lol

Yeah, i play poker, got into it late in highschool and last year i played alot and actually got respectable..., i play online now on pokerstars and fulltilt, mostly 7 card stud and pot limit omaha (i couldn't deal with all the badbeats from hold'em). Live holdem is still my favorite as its the most fun to play

Yeah I play on them two aswell but not so much on pokerstars...I play mostly on full tilt but always holdem...7 card stud occasionally...

Well... maybe not... i'm way to shy to play that! >_<

I do play poker with friends, but as a friendly thing normally involving betting chocolate coins or a big bag of bonbons or marshmallows. Its a yummy form of poker. Its quite a fun thing to do when you're bored and going through a no-brainer.

Funniest poker thing was on our biology fieldtrip to Wales last September. I had just got ou the shower and was walking down the hallway to me dorm. I walked past my friend's dorm, where I heard a whipping sound, followed by a loud "ooooooow" and a laugh. My mind felt really perverted, so I knocked on their door. They were playing poker with towl whips as the bet!

Haha, no i understand... in my dorms if you hear weird noises it's usually correct to think someones having a bit of fun

Any...I use play money and I did have 10 million in my account but it got boring having so much money as there is no risk because I know if I lose some, I always have loads more. So I decided to start again which I did the other day..so Im back to low limits

Oh, I play real money, just at low limits and low buy in tournies. I can't handle playing at the play money tables just because the way people play with no actual money on the line is so far from anything that resembles real life play.

Yeah the way they play is so frustrating...when you play at very high money tables, you get a lot more tables with players that are actually playing properly because they are good players, being the reason why they have so much money in the first place.
