Kidnapper of Two kids Can't Live without Final Fantasy XI

We have all heard about the kidnapper of two kids..
But here is a little secret about him

Michael Devlin is a pizza manager. He kidnapped two kids and the police were in luck as the idiot criminal used pictures of one of the kids when he was playing Final Fantasy XI online.

Obviously a disturbed person, Michael Devlin had used a picture
of one of the kidnapped boys for his GamerTagPic, during a round of Final Fantasy XI where he went by the name "DevilDevlin." This happened on January 11th, little before the kids were rescued and that's how they got him.

Kidnapper Michael Devlin has only one wish now being in prison and that is to play Final Fantasy XI. When someone asked what would have happened if he hadn't been captured (the kidnapper being present), Devlin quickly replied: “I'd be in front of my computer screen playing Final Fantasy XI. I like Final Fantasy because it has a network that can connect to people all over the world, from Europe to Japan.”

Kidnappers and other criminals always miss something and leave a small clue that leads to the victim and eventually to the solving of the case. This guy was so stupid and so addicted to his favorite game that he didn't even take the time to think if anyone would recognize the kid in the picture.

Here's an interesting comment I saw in the comments column- PTTSeven says: "Makes you wonder who's really behind some of these avatars in MMORPGS." And isn't it true?

Now, he sits cool behind bars and he is very, very sad. Not because of what he did, but because he can't play Final Fantasy XI anymore. Criminals are people too you know, they too need some peace and relaxation every once in a while, and this one's was MMO, Final Fantasy XI.

YES, use the picture of a missing child on an online game where millions of people can see you, possible even law enforcement officers (actually, I'm sure some play the game. Obviously, it's so popular.) and just keep thinking you won't get caught.

I've just been wondering why he kidnapped the kids at all. What was his motivation? Was it so that he could have two servants do his chores while he played FFXI? That one kid was with him for like four years. Usually the kidnapped person is assumed to be dead after that time, aren't they? Like that Brooke chick who was abducted on the OSU campus, who was from BYU or something, apparently. Everybody was saying she was probably already dead after a few months (and as far as I know, they still haven't found her.)

But yeah, that probably was not the best idea to use a picture of the person you abducted as your tag. I wonder what the kid looked like in that picture; if it was a normal picture, or something else. If this guy was like "look what I do kidnapped kids!" Anyhoo...

I hate when people blame videogames for all the evil in the world. People are frightened by the fact that they can't control others' actions, and the fact that it is in their psychology, and we can't control it, or find it until it's too late. So they attack videogames and movies and what-have-you, saying that it's THEIR fault. In reality, I believe that the people who are HEAVILY influenced by these things, are already slightly messed up to begin with. That's MY opinion though.

Well, these stupid people are partially right when it comes to video games. Studies have shown when we play video games that our brain actually thinks that is what is happening therefore we are technically training ourselves of how to shoot the plasma gun and not just hand-eye coordination. Which then makes irrational people (mostly parents and older people) blame the video game instead of their parenting or lack of teaching their kid. They can't accept that fact because all parents believe their children are perfect and that they know them better than anyone. Especially the frantic mothers.

The only flaw about this sad theory is when there is an overwhelming amount of gamers who aren't influenced to do something they saw in a video game (unless it's harmless XD...) and many other facts that no one will accept. Like over the past, I don't know, 3 years crime has gone down like 70% or something. That was used against Jacky boy in some 48 Minute episode showing him the statistics and he called that bullshit when they had direct evidence of it. The concept was "It was better to have kids blowing up stuff on the TV than it is blowing up a school". Which is definitely true.

This guy, however, is one f-ing idiot. Shows you what people will do to just play a game when they've forgotten there is a life out there.

You would think the WoW fans would be the type to do such a thing, I have yet to play either of them but I know they can be addictive. My question is how could he be so stupid? What did he kidnap the two kids for? So they could run down to the shops and grab him some coke to keep him awake? Man if I had to watch somebody play FFXI all day without letting me play I would be quite pissed off, also going to prison would have a huge effect on your addiction, he's going to get withdrawal symptoms.
