The junk of memories!

Everyone must of experienced this one time or another when going through a cleanout of old junk from childhood. I've been doing that the past few days and blimey I found some stuff!

First of all, the most impressive thing I found was a Power Rangers poster magazine from when I was 4 years old. This was of the original rangers, back in 1993, so this magazine was 13-14 years old. There were these free peelable stickers which came with it to use on a scene on the back page, and all the stickers were there, in the same postition i left them... kicking eachother in the nads!

I also found a load of drawings I did of pokemon back when the craze was at it's peak. Caterpie, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Alakazam, Geodude, Kangaskhan and Onix. I also found my old cards, where I had the entire first set. Those i'm keeping to hopefully sell for bundles in the near future!

Old school books, including my first history project in the comp, where I got the lowest grade of the class. We all had to do a project on Roman armies, and I just drew a picture of a roman soldier and labled the armour and wrote a little of the battle postitions. 2.1.D! Maths coursework from year 7 and 8, where i spent more time drawing and colouring the front covers than doing the actual work itself! The best school thing I found though was my Year 6 sticker sheet, completely full with stickers! I wish we still got stickers for good work in our college years... *sigh*

Probably the second most amazing thing I found were the songs I wrote with my mate Kirsty in year 9. They were all Wierd Al-esque piss takes of famous pop songs of the time. The main difference our had to Yankovich's were that ALL of ours were about poo, gas and toilets. Great classics such as "Thats What I go To The Bog For" (a spoof of Busted's 'Thats What I Go To School For), "All Fart" (Blue's All Rise), and "Constipated" (Avril Lavigne's Complicated). Ironically, Wierd Al did a Constipated spoof of Avril, however we had never heard it at the time. They were pretty ace!

Of course, photos were also there. Ones of old birthday parties, old pets, pictures of us with buckets on our heads swinging from trees with spades in our hands... so many memories! Oh... and some playdoh gone solid!

So... lets share memories. What forgotten treasures have you found from your childhood?

Ooooh. Well, I got rid of all my toys about seven years ago, or handed them down to my brother.

I matured pretty quickly, and even as a child, the things I enjoyed most were writing, reading and drawing.

I did find an entire car set, though, complete with tracks and little accessories. It was impressive because none of it was scratched or broken indicating that I had been careful enough with them.

I also found hundreds of old pictures I'd drawn. Most of them were of ladies in ideas for clothes I'd designed.

As a child, I didn't really enjoy toys as much as drawing and books, so yeah.

Oh, but I did find a tiny animal hospital which had all of the bits assembled... I gave it to my friends' five years old daughter, though.

Yeah, I was like that. For christmas, some people gave me barbies and stuff for a while, but i never got into that. I did have toy animals and dinosaurs i used to play with though, as well as cars and scalextrix. I was a little tomboy... though I did dig Polly Pocket. I still can't believe how they've made her into a little slut now!

Ha, and I havent exactly played with my toys in yonks either, i've just been too lazy to sort them out. My mum just threw a load of binbags full of this stuff in my face for me to sort through. Most of the stuff I found was old drawings and old school books, though I'm still in awe over my old Power Rangers poster! I'm not sure how I never noticed that the Red Ranger had a huge wedgie though.

Polly Pocket was alright. I only had some because my sister did. I had a few dolls as well, but I only used them as source of kill for my Action Man. ._.; .

I do remember making my Action Man "kill" Barbie because she got raped by a plastic horse, though. (My Action Man and my Barbie did NOT get along.) He and the horse were friends, it would seem.

All of those things bring back a load of memories, like before my oldest known sister went missing and she used to play lego and cars with me. Of course, she was thirteen years older than me, so she liked taking me out more than actually playing the toys with me.

And my drawings were more along the lines of doing when I was bored and wanted to design. That was a lot of the time, I guess.

Although I really don't remember much usually I occasionally get weird flashbacks according to what something smells like. Certain smells make me zone out completely and relive entire days in my mind. Not much to remember though.

Brother is a whole other story. He has never gotten rid of anything without someone doing it in secret. He has a room just for storing it all. Every time he looks for something it's an emotional moment. Anything from the box to his Pokemon Red to an old Batman figure. I want to know what a normal one is like though. I'm sure most people don't cry and reminisce over a candy wrapper.

As a child all my stuff got stolen, throughout my room I had heaps of playstation game posters even though I did not have one. I was never really much for toys how ever I had a collection of Lego at one time as I planned to get a massive collection but gave up. Probably my biggest memories come from either my old Sega Megadrive which my nan has though I have not touched it in years, and my PS1 games such as FFVII & VIII (Screw all you FFVI Fanboys ) and (if I still had them) all the other games like Spyro, Tony Hawks, Tekken, GTA2 and many more. It is a shame cause the games that I play now a days do not feel like they used to.

Dude, I still get stickers in Psychology, but thats cos my teacher Carla is one cool ass biatch, I love her.

Anyways, when I was going through my closet I found the old Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles videos, I almost ****in creamed my pants I was so excited, I had all of them, even the Case of the killer pizzas, It was the best moment of my life, then my little brother stole them. I loved it though because it took me back to when I spent every bit of money I had on the figurines, I had loads and still know all the character names now, Turtles were my youth in general, I wanted to be a giant turtle, **** yea.

Another time I found old 'love letters' from a highschool girlfriend, I realised how pathetic that relationship was. Though at the time she was the best thing that had ever happened to me ever, it seems so long ago. There were even photos of us and little dooles that I'd done, it was a great time.

Sticker book...

Pokemon. Yeah, I had a Pokemon sticker book. I think I only had like, five more until I had the entire set. Of course, Pokemon still rules, but the stickers were annoying to collect when you kept keeping five of the same one.

Also, I had a Postman Pat sticker collection... I loved Postman Pat as a young child and I had a load of merchandise from that show. The theme tune is awesome, too bad I don't have it. It'd seriously be my most played song. Barney the Dinosaur coming in at second.

I guess that reminds me of my strange liking for that purple pedophile back in the day. Mr. Blobby also rocked. I had a teddy of him. And I had a balloon once, too, but someone left the front door open, a gust blew in and it blew out the door and over the trees opposite my house. Sad day. Everyone was laughing, and I just sat there, watching it go.

...Hahaha.

Ah, good thread.

Ah, good thread.
Oh my god! I think we were long lost sisters or something! 0___0

I had a pokemon sticker book, which I actually found yesterday. I had almost the complete collection, and I even had a form filled in for the final 8 I needed. I wonder if they'll still accept it 7 years late? :/ Oh, and the balloon thing is really sad. I had a cool Barney the dinosaur one that I got at Ringwood Carnival one year. I fell over and let go of my balloon, but before my mum noticed that I was crying about my balloon rather than falling over, it was too high up in the air. God knows how I still remember that... must of been an incredably sad moment of my life!

Mr Blobby is a legend! I have the theme tune downloaded on my computer! I also have a video which I won't let my mum get rid of. The first day of sixthform, I requested it for RSR (the school radio station) for all of sixthform, and they announced it but never played it. Year 9s are so cruel...

I remember waking up in the early hours in the morning, like 6:30 AM to watch Barney the Dinosaur! My mum was always still in bed, and used to wonder what motivated me to get up so early (I've always been a girl who loves my sleep). She found out about my Barney addiction soon enough! I had some Barney toys which I think were given to a family friend's kid, anda video. They're actually showing that again, I saw an advert for it on TV a while back, though I doubt it will have the same effect on me than it used to. Also, I never realised that the triceratops in it is called BJ. Ah the sweet innocence of being a wee tyke!

As for Postman Pat, hes another one I digged. I have a toy Jess around somewhere, though she may of been given away. I had a rubber Postman Pat too. Haha... Rubber Postman Pat... why does tha sound so perverted? Talking of rubber, I got colour changing rubber ducks and two normal rubber ducks for christmas! I havent had a bath without them yet!

Does anyone remember Dick Turtle Luckybags? I used to love those things, and found a colouring book from one the other day. They came with crayons, sweets and other random junk like cardboard dolls and yoyos. I think a large amount of the random junk I found was from those. Luckybags and McDonalds toys...

Censored Dick Turtle, hahaha.

I loved those luckybags! Everytime I went sohpping with my mum, she'd buy me one. My sister would get one occasionally, too.

Colouring books. Crayons. Those really tiny sweet-things in tiny boxes with a turtle on them... Ahhh, the love of the old days!
