Obsession with the cutest little fuzzle-pet.

As most of you probably know, I'm not exactly fond of animals. In fact, I only really like a few species, and am mostly repulsed by others or freaked out by them. Anyway, that's beside the point.

As you all know, I went away for a few days and got back yesterday. On Sunday, my sister told me she was getting a hamster while I was away. I thought it was a cool idea and then went on with the day.

Anyway, when I got back yesterday, I walked into the lounge and saw a cage on the table. I knew it was the hamster cage so I approached it and tapped on the plastic. Suddenly, a tiny furry face popped out from the lining of the cage. I blinked, and the face cocked to one side.

Although the hamster and I have only been acquainted since yesterday afternoon when I returned home, I feel a strong attachment to the furry little thing.

My sister has been trying to tempt her out of the bedding to touch her coat, but... the hamster only responds to me. It comes out and touches my finger when I go near. I feel this to be abnormal behavior from myself -- as I'm not really easily, truly attached to anything.

The questions are...

Am I obsessed with the hamster?

And...

Have you ever been attached to a pet that isn't yours?

Well, i'm known to be a real animal lover, however I am much more of a cat person than a dog person. I do like dogs, but I don't think they're amazing... at least... exept some of my friends dogs...

First of all, my friends Rachel and Andrea have these two dalmations called Spotty and May. Everytime I go over there, they leap about and won't leave me alone, and get really over-exited whenever they see me! I spend ages cuddling those two dogs. Also, my friend Dan's dog, a boarder colly called Millie. I love that dog! Shes realy laid back, and just sits there for cuddles, and sometimes paws at my knee for a cuddle.

Heh... I h=get attatched to most animals I see though, which is why your story is much more interesting than mine. All I can say for you, Chez, is STEAL THAT LITTLE FLUFFBALL!

I have two ham-hams. They're both extremely tame even though one is only 3 months old and barely used to humans. I'm obsessed with them both. I wish you could move these things overseas...they were both gifts to me.

I also have four cats and a dog to look after. And some chickens. And bunnies. I keep getting animals dumped on me. I'm always attracted to them, and they seem to be to me.

But aren't they just the cutest? I have russian dwarfs, they're adorable @_@ it almost makes me feel...fuzzy...warm...inside...

I'm very fond of animals, but not too obsessed with them. Sure, you can basically be attatched to a pet that isn't yours. I'm attatched to my Aunt's nieghbor's cat. It's one of the best cats I've ever...Ummm....Come in contact with??? Anyways, I like the cat and you aren't obsessed with the hamster, you just found something that you like and, maybe, love. Your not 'obsessed' with it.

It's asleep now. In the cage next to me. I'm tepting to open the cage, pick it up and mother it for a while. Seriously. I just looked at the cage LOVINGLY.

One-Shot-Alchemist, I don't know... I COULD be a bit obssessed with it. We put it in a little hamster ball yesterday and it zoomed around the lounge and kitchen. I made sure to follow it around every once in a while to make sure it didn't somehow land itself into trouble. xD Somehow...

O_O Your serious??? Okay, maybe a little obsessed.....or just trying to act like it's mother? Well, it's not bad to be obsessed with a pet....Maybe you should buy your sis a new hampster and ask if you can have hers.

I've always had at least a dog or a cat of my own...sometimes both. But most animals like me a lot. Here where I live one of the neighborhood cats won't approach anyone but me. I once had a dog who I had just met hours before try to protect me when I passed out drunk, from everyone else trying to draw on me with markers. My uncles bird used to love to sit on my shoulder and and clean my "Feathers" for me. Feathers being my hair with dried gel in it. So yes I have been connected to many animals before.

You might be obsessed with the hamster, but that is okay. You said yourself you are not an animal person. Having a strong connection with an animal is new for you and you want to keep it. So your obsession is normal and healthy.
