Hmm. I wouldn't really call this Intellectual. Sure there's something to discuss but those adverts are made to be tough to answer.

Besides, I smell a spam war if this stood here, so I'm going to go ahead and move it to General Chat.

If Testament or OceanEyes28 feel like moving it back, though, that's okay with me.

Get bit by a shark, there's your answer.

Nah seriously, I don't think you can't because the water probably fills your tears pours if your eyes were open but you don't usually have your eyes open unless you want blood red eyes and pain...I know this through experience..

You probably right robo kirby, it's like when you scream underwater aswell...I wonder if there's any reall way to find out because I thought why not get punched a lot but then I thought that your bodily movement slows dramatically in water.

Does anybody know this?

Ermm, *ponders*

I've honestly never heard this before. Of course you can cry underwater, the only difference is that you can never notice the tears when someone actually is (due to the fact of having your face surrounded by water). If by crying you only refer to the tears. If not then the facial expressions and bodily actions associated with crying can also be perceived underwater.

Did you mean with or without goggles on? if with goggles on then the tears can actually still be seen (at close distance).

So yes you can, you just can't see it (tears).

Yeah, you definitely can. I've done it before in a concrete pool, after accidentally bombing into the shallow end of the pool and totally grazing my lower back. The tears are saltier than the pool water, and I think I could taste them. But I think that crying is an emotional act as much as having watering eyes, so yeah, you can cry underwater.

At first I assumed you could.

Then I thought about it scientifically. Your tear ducts release tears for cleaning or whatever, right? So if your body knew there was water on your eyes already (such as when you are underwater) it would have no need to release water.

But then I realsied on an even more scientific note that if you are underwater, probability is that it won't be clean. Pool water is chlorinated, sea water is salty, river water is peed in. So the extra dirty elements your eyes would pick up on, thus you would then probably cry some nice clean tear water.

I'm trying to sound smart here. I may be right. I may be completely wrong. But as you can see, I really have thought about this.

And that's my brain usage for the day.
