A familiar question.

Is the world going downhill?

I look at how things were in the olden times and I realise how much more politically correct everything seemed. I look at the world these days and I think "...what is this bullshit?"

It's true that amazing technology and medicines have improved and save lives. Our technology is growing and provides us with so much, yet... The government really ****ed this world up in my opinion. Crime isn't really getting solved and global warming is sucking ass right about now.

I think over the time people have grown from cavemen, into respectable individuals and now we're going back into this loop of being cavemen again, with the exclusion of technology and whatnot.

...What the hell is happening?

What's your opinion? And are we going back to our "caveman" behavior?

I can't believe that only a few decades ago, the world was a decent place. It sickens me...

Everyone makes it out to be much worse now than ever. Last time I checked no one was walking across entire continents with plans of world power. No one was getting slaves to build walls around one of the largest countries in the world. We don't throw people in furnaces for their beliefs. Yes there's a lot of ugly, but there's also a lot of beautfiul. There will always be moron's who believe anything different is a threat but things change, horrible people die and the world keeps going.

The world isn't any better or worse than it ever has been. Sure, people are more tolerant than they used to be, on the surface at least, but this just brings more porblems on its own. Those who are intollerant tend to make up for the fewer ammounts of them by doing worse things, or so it seems. I'd say that the world is on more of a flat, never ending course than going downhill.

Well in my own opinion I think the world is better.

I agree. Medicine is way better. A long......long....LONG time ago women were seemingly demonic for the on an off period of their menustration. Since not many people knew what a headache was they suspected it was a demon. what was the cure? why drilling it out of your head of course. Medicine back then was based on Religion. An in accourdence with religion a person sick was often thought to be possesed or evil. Now in days we know better.

Crime has gotten a little better. We are no longer hung for being a different relgion....well in this country we aren't. We aren't being burned for being a witch for wearing red lipstick an being out at night. Yes we still have those who kill an rape, but all in all we have always had those. Can't expect the goverment to be blamed for that, Lol. We hear about it more simply because we have bigger guns an more people now than we did back then. Not to mention we have a TV. Meaning you hear about it more than you would have if it just happened. As far as I see we have better technology to catch the crooks. An even though we can't stop the worlds assholes...we can now at leats catch more of them an humainly put them to sleep. Whi is really to say that back then it wasn't just like this? We didn't live then....we can't really say.

Global warming in my eyes is a natural thing to happen. It means the earth is attempting to heal itself. Yeah it sucks for us because the world was not meant to be kind to humans. when the earth is hurt it only thinks about how to fix herself an doesn't think much about the other animals. It is after all a "thing". An if I have to die in heat; the good things is that the earth did not kill me for nothing. Humans are only animals no matter how smart we are (An that is debatable). So in the end we have to be uncomfortable or die at one time or another. All in all we'll all be dead before it has any effect on us anyways. It will more or less effect our children. Which is still pretty bad.

Have to agree 100% about the government though. I am glad our forefathers only let a president have a few years an 2 terms. The power is in our hands though. The only way our government is an idiot is if we let it be. Not enough people vote though. Go figure. Have to say that I love the Us for one reason right now 100%. Bush will be out of House in just a little while. YAY!

As far as caveman. to me animals seem to be a little smarter than us at times. While they can survive in the heat we need a/c to get by an not have a heat stroke. (Im TX anyways). Humans are one of the few that kill for no reason at all. Humans are the only ones that create more than they needs an still do not share the left overs. There is enough left overs in the Us to feed everyone a full 3 meal day in Africa. That makes me think. Humans descriminate an objectify hatered into the society. We created worry...relgion...many animals would only sleep with their sister if they had too. Humans just do it for "love". Sick as well. Animals would never sleep with something dead, something considered a child...hell they would eat them first XD...an they would never sleep with another species. humans created sin in my opinion. We can lust.....love....all of the above. Many things we take for advantage. I think being a cave man would be just a little better than being the humans we are today. Weak an needed a road inorder to walk. No natural immunity, No I am not mocking us as humans. Just pointing out that if we are turning into cave men....would not be so bad. Maybe it would actually put the idiots an aristocrats in there place.

A cat can get up....run....talk...mate...feed itself before a baby can. What does that say about our intellagence?

The only reason you think the world used to be better is because history books never record things that make you realize that we live in such a "horrible place". And if they do mark these events, they're incredibly trivialized.

You know, what with the hippie beatings, the fight for civil rights, I am too lazy to list the dozens of other things that I could think of without even the slightest bit of research.

Just because you see horrible things happening now doesn't mean that horrible things didn't happen before. You were just too young and stupid to realize.

Also. You have to realize. Back then, I wasn't around. Now I am. Therefore, the present and future > the past.

We just invade people's homes, rape them and kill them because their religious beliefs differ from our own and we hold some insane belief that its OK to murder someone because someday, sometime, they may hurt us. Thats progress right there.

Granted, Lover Boy made a good point. All of these things have been happening for thousands of years. Go visit the library and read what really happened when the Europeans came to "America". There was no hugs and kisses between the natives and us, thats for damn sure. Simpy put, more murder and rape....

Anyways... is it worse? Probably not. Is it better? No way in hell. The reason I say that really comes down to one thing. Nobody cares. People are dying of aids. People are dying of starvation. People are getting murdered, raped, assaulted and kids dont get education, let alone clean water and die at 30. And what do people do? Bitch because their PS3 is gonna cost 600 bucks. Its rather sad...

People these days would rather give you the finger then help you off of your knees when you fall down.... Thats why I say No.

This is how I see it: The world was f*cked, the world still is, and looking from the past the world always will be.

The world has seen better todays, the problem with today is humans are too stupid to try and advance for a better life. Today we are so up in arms about freedom most people are confused beyond help with false ideas about acceptance, revolution and change. Guess what folks? That happened 40 odd years ago when my mother was a child, and thanks to such a thing you have destroyed a lot of what put in place for a reason. People think they are much better off now that they can do what ever they want when in fact they never really knew what they wanted and had to get other people to tell them.

The fact that being depressed, suicidal and over-emotional is the latest trend is a fine example of how well your revolution worked! I mean they can do what ever they want and they want to sit around crying about how they want to go with that girl but can't because they're too shy? I mean sure there are people who are seriously depressed, I've been down that road myself many of times and right now there isn't much I can do but sit around and wait for things to change but I am not making a huge scene over it, not trying to be an attention seeker and if you take note of a few of my posts you might possibly understand why (including this one). But the simple fact that this is a popular trend amoungst the people who get it an example shows exactly what you were fighting for.

Technologically wise we may have taken leaps and bounds but basically nothing truely ground breaking has happened since in the past 20 years, I mean sure we have DVD players, iPods, Super computers, Beasty computers and even that touch screen thingy but basically they are all ideas that have been around for years just nobody has touched them. In fact I thought of the concept of an mp3 player like the ipod back when I was using Napster.

Also the constant pull to push middle class into lower class is always there, everyday things rise in price but wages take a while to. Inflation is such a bitch and its gotten to the point in which 5cent coins down here are completely worthless. Inflation is quite a problem and by the time most of us reach our adult years things are going to be more expensive than ever and with the huge immigration and population increase it is going to get worse with time.

But like I've said before, I hope a Nuclear Winter occurs destroying most of the human life leaving only the strong to survive.

IMO, this represents how I think the world has gone downhill: Suburban white kids with a god complex because they didn't get enough stern beatings in their life.

Seriously, if nuclear winter came and I somehow survived the cold, I would be straight up shot because I had a blanket someone with a gun wanted. The amount of nuclear weapons necessary to cause a nuclear winter would take out around 80% of the world's population, or even more depending on location of said nuclear weapons.

That's 5:1 odds that I am going to die. I am not a betting man; but I would bet on those odds just about everytime.

I don't think anyone says that it is OKAY you do any of those things. If we did we wouldn't put out warning an have police. According to the mubers of our society the rate or killings an rapes are pretty minimal. News just likes to show it..an newspapers...etc. because it gets people to watch the news...buy the paper. Keeping society in fear, however, is not a grand approach that I like for this society. Like LB said....it has been happening long before our time. Granite no one has murdered anyone I know...if not for the news I would never have known about any of it. No one thinks it is okay by any means execpt for the pricks that actually do it. starts out as violence or emo behavior, but then escalates. Anyone that thinks rape an murder is okay is a dumbass. Just asit is not okay to think that the world is shit becuase the news picks out all the shitty things in our world to post. Not cool as far as media.

I saw this and instantly went to Wikipedia. I saw all kinds of amazing things, like advanced and theoretical physics, neurosurgery, nano-technology, among many other amazing amazing things.

We can survive without air conditioning, but we dont want or have to. We sort of had to for a couple thousand years. And anyone that does die does so because they live in a climate they are not naturally supposed to, like whiteys in Texas and Florida. We waste food because we can, not because we are stupid. Animals save their food because they dont know when they are getting more, we know we are getting more, and I am not going to give an effort to save someone I dont care about, not out of stupidity but out of apathy. Animals sleep with their children, what the hell do you mean they would only sleep with their sister if they had to? And we created sin? I would not at all say that this world is any less politically correct than it used to be.

Remember, women couldn't vote. Black people in America had very little privelidges. Children in schools were disciplined with the rod. A very big rod.
Go back to the victorian era. Children were forced to work in mineshifts.
And in the days of old, the man had final say in pretty much everything.

We've become more PC. The only exception is that there is much for un-PC humour flying around.
