I love the Red Sox! I totally do! Have you been paying attention to how they have been doing lately? Crazy... They have won 11 straight games, all of which has been against NL East... That means they've torn down Atlanta, and after tonight at 7:10 central, they will extend that streak to 12 straight games and shut out the Mets. The game last night was of worthy mention, Pedro Martinez pitched at Fenway Park his first time since leaving the Sox, back in 2004. He is a great pitcher and a 2 time Cy Young award winner, but the man just didnt have it in him that night I guess. With the Sox scoring 4 runs in the first inning and another 4 in the 3rd inning, pretty much set the tone for what the rest of the game would turn out like. It was just an awesome game to watch. And tonight will definately be a great game to see. We have Curt Schilling starting tonight for the Red Sox, and Tom Glavine(ex braves pitcher) starting for the Mets. If the Mets are to pull themselves out of their rut these last couple of days, tonight is the night to do it. With both pitchers being among the top in their divisions, NL and AL, we have quite a ballgame tonight. The Red Sox have been deemed again this year the hottest team in baseball. SO thats enough of bragging about my team. What im curious about is what your favorite team is this year during the 2006 season. Let me know why, as I only keep track of the Sox, and the Royals now, since im living here in Nebraska, they are the closest to a home team.

| Does what you can't. | As much as they suck this year (and, let's face it, every year), I'll always be a Chicago Cubs fan. We need to make some major changes, though. New pitching coach is first on the order. New manager is a close second. Kerry Wood and Mark Prior, two of the best pitchers in baseball, are constantly injured, and that needs to change. It's not a matter of our players not being good enough -- we have one of the highest payrolls in baseball and we still suck. All of our players are great until they get to the Cubs and after they leave the Cubs, but most of the time they suck while we got 'em. The Sox and the Royals? You should pick a NL team -- why not the Cardinals? They've been doing pretty damn well, even though they're rivals of the Cubs ... actually, probably because they're rivals of the Cubs. Red Sux, hah. Y'all had that pansy-ass "bambino" curse. The Cubs have a real curse. The Curse of the Goat! ![]()

| | I've been rooting for the Sox, too. I've been a Sox fan since the year they won the Series. As sketchy as that may seem, I decided to root for them in the beginning of the year. They're just one of the most fun teams to watch. Their team chemisty is awesome. There are no absolute spotlight hogs on that team (au contraire to the Skanks) and everyone contributes their all to give it all they've got. In the NL, though, I do root for the Mets. I love me my Pedro and all, but I have to stay loyal to my Sox.

7,942 | Die hard Mets fan right here. Eh, you can't win every game, but the Mets still have a dominant lead in the NL east. After this series and the next, it's pretty much coasting for the Mets. I don't know if thats a good thing or bad, but we shall see. I don't even care about Mets-Sox. It's more about Mets-Yanks, where the Mets will kick some serious ass. We just need Floyd back... and for Milledge to catch some flies in the Monster for this series. Our starting pitching... hasn't been that great so far this series, but our relief has been stellar. The only problem right now is that they're relying too much on the long ball from Delgado, and not as much on clutch hitting. In the first game, D-Wright (my hero) struck out with the bases loaded in the fifth on a curve. That was heartbreaking and demoralizing. Little things like that can kill a slumping team. Oh well, looks like we won't have a Met for for NL player of the week this round.

| | The Mets losing to the Red Sox doesn't mean a thing. They've still got the highest record in the NL and are still a force to be reckoned with. I'm sure they'll get their act back together soon. They had better for the Subway Series this weekend.

7,942 | lol The best thing about the Phillies is Sal Fasano... hands down. He looks like he could have played on the '77 team with the mustache. Anyways, Mets-Yanks tonight at the Stadium... we seriously have to kick the shit out of Mussina tonight.

5,159 | St. Louis Cardinals are who I'm rooting for. Can't say they'r emy favorite team, however, I do work for them, have 2 of the hats the Cardinals actually wear during practice (One is on my mantle, keeping for collecters, other I wear daily) and a 2006 Inagural Season of Busch Stadium ball signed by Albert ****ing Pujols. Pujols is 2nd place in home runs right now, after missing 14 games. Booyaka! Plus, when the Cardinals go to playoffs.... Every game I work is double time. *drool* | ||||||||

| Does what you can't. | The "Curse of the Bambino" was from 19...20? 1920-2004. And it wasn't even given mention of a "curse" until mid-80s. The last World Series the Red Sox won was in 1918 -- against the Cubs. The Cubs, on the other hand, haven't won a World Series since 1908, and haven't even been in one since 1945. That's without even getting into the Ex-Cub Factor. Thankfully, I'm also a Braves fan. It's too bad they really suck this year too, and that they choke in the playoffs every year.

| | Hey Sassy! You see the Cubbies and the Twins? SWEPT UNDER THE DOORMAT LOL Just teasing amigo. Anyways.... The Minnesota Twins is where its at. Morneau, Mauer, Liriano, Santana. Come on now. Its like having an all star game 162 times a season. We have currently won like 19 of 21, but we are stuck in such a good division that we are still like 9 games behind. Kinda bites... I have been a Twins fan for about 15 years now. They are my home team, so it kind of makes sense. Hopefully we can still pick up a wild card and make it to the playoffs this year. If we can make it, that World series win is as good as ours. Go Twinkies!

| | Always and forever a Yankees fan. I am having the season recorded on TiVo. My whole family is Mets fans which was weird because when I was in fifth grade the World Series between the Yanks and the Mets was on and my family got so pissed at me when the Yanks won. But I was happy as hell. The Yanks have had there faults too like when they lost the ALCS (I think last year or the year before) when they won the first 3 games and they couldn't manage to pull a 4th game out even 4 games later. It was a sad day for Yankees fans. *nods head left to right* My favorite p[layer is A-Rod (Alex Rodrigez). He rocks.

| | Yeah, that would be two years ago when they won three straight against the Sox. Then they came back and won four in a row to go to the world series then won the next four in a row to sweep the Card's. What a postseason that was.

| | This is quickly going to become my favorite thread. lol.... Did anyone catch todays games? The Red Sox lost today against second ranked in the NL East Florida Marlins, to stop their winning streak at only 12, only one away from breaking their own personal record set back in i think somewhere in the 20's.. The Yankees pitched a great game today, only allowing one hit, and nearly half their staff got in on it. Jason Giambi hit a solo home run in the first inning. It was his 51st homerun since July 1, 2005 I think. Which would tie him with my man, David Ortiz for the most homers in the majors over the past year (July 2005-June 2006) Next up in the run over the last year is the Phillie's Ryan Howard with 48 homers over the same span. Which is good for our friend Scorpian, the Phil's aren't that bad off eh? Sadly, the Mets lost, but they ahve the next 2 games to come back. The score ended at 2-0.Also the Royals toppled the Card's in a 7-5 victory, which brought their record this season to 26-52 which still puts them at the bottom of the MLB totem pole, but we cannot argue that the Royals have gained some enthusiasm after firing their own General Manager. Did you hear they are picking up last season's brave's General manager? His name escapes me, but it will be interesting to see how they fare next season. I think thats about all, ahh wait I can't forget to mention the Cubs for Sasquatch's sake. They played a good game today but came up short today with a loss off 6-2 against the White Sox. I've never really been a fan of the White Sox, and so, after further consideration, and at the suggestion of Sasquatch, my NL team would have to be the Cubs. They are the next closest team to me besides the Royals, so its only logical, plus I do tend to pay some attention to their games. Thats about it from me for today. I'm thinking that until the moderator's stop me or say otherwise, im going to post my thoughts on the days games here, in this thread, or unless they make us sports fans a home, which would be grand. I sure am a nutty sports fan.... but its making up for all those years i didn't give a damn.... What was I thinking?! lol.... I can't wait til football season. ^_^
