Near Death Experiences.

Okay, so I'm not even kidding when I say I almost died at work today.

I'm a lifeguard at the local pool, and I'm used to scary things happening in the water but usually, it doesn't happen to me. Or, I do what I can to prevent it happening. I've also been around water my while life. Ever since my mum threw me in the pool at two months old. I know the power of water, and I've had a good friend drown....Okay, on to story...

Let us just say that 35 mile per hour winds, an olympic size pool, and pool covers aren't really a wonderful combination when you are in the pool trying to straighten out the damn cover.

When it gets windy here, (and it often does, living in the Gorge) we sometimes have to get in the pool to move the covers or else the wind gets them and makes like...well....a big freakin kite.. No fun.

I was in the pool, moving a cover (They are split into 9 pieces for easier moving) when a huge gust of wind blew the cover I was moving blew up into the air and then down....over me. Trapping me between the water and the cover...And this is a big freakin' cover.... I was able to get onto one of the other covers and slide out from under the "cover of death" but it was the most terrifying 5 seconds of...well...It was really terrifying.

It almost happened again two or three times over the next hour and a half I was fighting those stupid covers before we finally gave up and went home. And damnit. I was suppost to get off early today!!

Has anyone else had a frightening experiece like this? And I mean real ones. Not stupid things like "omg...like one time I tripped on the carpet." This is serious business, kids.

Serious, eh? I actually died once. Does that count? Or is it null and void because it was real death instead of near death? Oh well, let's go with it.

When I was 18, I had a heart attack one evening out of absolutely nowhere. I was clinically dead for over a minute. Probably not the greatest experience of my life. To be honest, death was incredibly boring. Everything was grey. Not even a light grey or dark grey, but just this horribly neutral grey.

I hope that's not what the afterlife is like, because it felt like an eternity.

Hikari sips tea with Black Mage - (lv 4)Hikari sips tea with Black Mage - (lv 4)Hikari sips tea with Black Mage - (lv 4)
I remember not to long ago I went to a birthday party. Everyone was in the pool and there was this lounging floaty couch thing.

At one point nobody was on it so I tried to get on. I fell off and when everyone saw me get on they did too. I ended up under it trying to push up on it not realizing everyone had gotten on and really panicked.

After a good five seconds I realized what was happening and found my way up. But that had to be the scariest thing I've experienced. I was already nervous about water but now I'm afraid of pools.

Ooh I'd be in a right panic if I'd get trapped in water. Yeesh.

Hmm...the time I nearly killed myself on Bacardi...they say my heart stopped, I don't remember, I was passed out. That was fun.

Gun to my head, knife to my gut, to my neck, knife in my boob, **** I hate knives. Stupid people with their...well knives.

I've never had the flash of life before my eyes. Not much to relive, or I just didn't care enough to look back to when I squished tadpoles between my fingers or kissed toads.

I'll try to think about that next time, if someone reminds me.

Well I have a severe allergic reaction to walnuts and every other type except peanutes which are good as I shall explain.

I got out of the hospital just getting over pnemonia when I was 3 and my neighbors as a welcome home gift made me chocolate chip walnut cookies. I had 1 and when I finished I thought I had lots of big goose bumps on me. Then I started to scratch my tongue alot and couldn't breathe well. My dad just came home and my mom and dad saw i was turning blue so they rushed me to the hospital since an ambulance would take too long since we lived in a city then. Well I passed out on the way there and woke up as I was being carried into the Emergency Room. Then I remember a mask being on me breathing through the Nebulizer. And I can't recall but what really saved me was they injected me with a dose of adrenaline cause my throat was closing on me due to the allergic reaction to the nuts. But yeah then I got to go home the next day. So yeah that's my near death experiance for ya.

Edit: And I just remembered that the doctors said I only had a couple minutes left before I was unsavable since it came that close.

Kinky Laughter has levelled up - (lv 1)
one time two years ago i was walking home from school and there was a crazy drunk driver that was driving up behind me and getting closer, well I noticed he was swerving a lot so I tried to hurry up [I was almost at my drive way] and about five seconds later I heard the car come so fast at me from behind I didn't have time to look around, I just jumped out of the way as fast as I could. I live in a desert so naturally when I jumped out of the way, I hit a whole bunch of shrub with thorns in it [at least it wasn't a cactus] and the car ended up knocking over our mail box which stopped the crazy car. >_> scariest thing of my life.

Oh jeez. Near death experiences. I've had a few.

One time, I was about three inches from death when an army truck tore my car in two...yeah...It wasn't really scary...It was more shocking then anything. In fact, when the ambulance came and I was sitting in the back, I actually went into shock and I had all these ambulance guys throwing blankets over me and talking to me. I'm not sure if you can call this "near death", but I could've died if I had been three inches closer to the right side.

I almost almost got run over a few months ago. It was night, and this drunk dude was hurtling down the street. A friend of mine had come over to comfort me earlier that night. The car came about a yard from me and my friend, luckily turned around and pulled me out of the way before it hit me.

I've had a few others...I don't much feel like sharing those, though.

Neo Necron jumps rope with Freya - (lv 5)Neo Necron jumps rope with Freya - (lv 5)Neo Necron jumps rope with Freya - (lv 5)
Back when I fought Godzilla.... 4 times I was nearly slain, but I got there in the end.

But yeah, drowning, that's nearly happened to me. My cousin thought it amusing to jump on my back in the deep end of a swimming pool in Florida, not noticing that my head was therefore pushed under, and he stayed there for a while. I would have told him to get off, but of course, I couldn't since my head was underwater. eventually I shook him off... then coughed and spluttered and stuff. I made it okay in the end ^_^.

I had a huge fear of the prospect of drowning after that. I'd still swim and stuff, but I couldn't touch watersports where I didn't feel in control, such as surfing, kayaking, etc.
I'm not afraid of such sports anymore, but if i was in a situation where I was underwater and out of control, I would probably still panic.

I've had a gun pulled on me once when I was twelve... in Shea Stadium. You don't make noise at a baseball game when a black guy is trying to woo some ho. Learned that the hard way.

I've also been hit in the head several times by varying objects at varying speeds. Baseball bat when I was 7. Baseball, an inch away from my temple when I was 13. It's not difficult to follow the two most important rules of baseball: No swinging the bat in the dugout, and always make sure that the person is paying attention to you when youre gonna throw the ball.

Passed out giving blood once last year. Supposedly if my now fiancee didn't catch me, I could have cracked my skull and/ or broken my neck. Yeah, always eat before giving blood.

Oh and I've been ridiculously drunk on may occasions. I've pissed on an electrical transformer once. Wandered into traffic once. But I'm fine.
