FIFA World Cup
Wooo! It's that time again! The World Cup is fast approaching, and I have a sneaking suspicion that nobody cares! Well, at least not on this board, but I could be wrong. Those of you that are American don't have much to cheer for, and neither do we in Canada. At least the USA made it.
 That's okay, I just cheer for Portugal instead, who actually lost to the friggin Americans in '02. I'm still traumatized. Personally, I really don't know much about football, I'm kind of like the people that go to church only on Easter and Christmas. I pay little to no attention to the European leagues and only care to watch the World Cup. Mind you, all I've been hearing in the past few months is that "Brazil is without question going to win". So, anyone care to disagree? Thoughts? Predictions for who's going to take each group? Matches that will be interesting to watch? |

I actually watch football (that's soccer for the Americans and Canadians) quite regularly, and I'll be cheering for Italy. Though I think Italy will really struggle to make it to the finals, I really hope they do win it this time.
I actually have a bet that the Czech Republic will make it to the semi-finals, they're an under rated team, but they're solid. Forza Italia!!! Portugal are quite good aswell, soo good luck to them!

Well I am a great football fan and I am from England so I want them to win! I hope we come up against Brazil so we can get them back for beating us years ago with a flukey goal by Ronaldinho!!! Sorry, I doubt anyone really cares about this but I do!

On topic: This may seem typical, but I'm for Brazil all the way. I've been rooting for them since '94 and I never stopped, even after that horrible loss in France '98. Honestly, I'm really hoping Italy make it far this time, what the hell were they doing in '02 seriously? I barely remember any of their games because they had really no impressive games. This is definetley going to be a WC to remember, i'm totally stoked.

Oh yeah! Getting the FIFA Fever for sure!
I'm going to be rooting for Brazil as well! I'm like Daugaroon, only really watch it during the World Cup. I play soccer in leauges and whatnot, and that's more of my cup of tea than watching it. Although I'll catch a couple of games if I happen across it. I'm more of a doer than a watcher... if that makes any sense.

I spent a vast majority of my summer in '02 watching the World Cup, but really only watch a lot of soccer during this time. I still enjoy it and really am looking forward to it!! I was for Brazil in '02 and think I may stick with them for this year as well, their games are always so intersting.

^ ok im from canada and i even know this
Fifa is like the NFL or NBA, its just the "league" if you will, and the world cup is held every 4 years (i believe) and has the top teams int he world, kinda like the soccer olympics.... although i dont watch it, nor care about it, cause i think its for *****s who cant play a real sport (mainly due to the rediculous overacting on every foul), I'll be cheering for Germany, mainly cause thats where my family is from and Canada is not in it (surprise surprise). I work with a ton of porkchops (portuguese) and Gotti rejects (Italians) so ill be laughin at them everytime either team loses HAHA

As an American I know what the World Cup is, and we even played cricket in PE in grade school...but what the deuce is snooker? If it is overly interesting I might have to find it being played somewhere when I "hop the pond" in July....: )
