Monty Oum, see here and here for who never heard of him, has finally released the second chapter of his Dead or Alive vs Final Fantasy machinima series. Personally I think it has awesome coreography and a quite good use of game knowledge. Dead Fantasy I Dead Fantasy II

| | I find it interesting that he hates the first episode that he made. I don't know if he actually said why, but he did not like it. I'm figuring that I likes what he did for this one though. He certainly went over the top with the combat from the last one. It was already pretty crazy and he took it to another level adding limit breaks or his stylized version of limit breaks since none of them use any of those moves in the games.

| Yeah, her animation in the beginning was a bit weird. It looked like some frames were missing, but maybe it was more noticeable because she was moving slowly. In the battle scenes even if that happens you don't actually see it because it's more fast paced. | |||||||||

139 | I really enjoyed both vids. I'm so glad the second part has been posted, I've been waiting for a long time for it. The coreography in both vids are superb.

| I guess this should interest most people here. Dead Fantasy III (Rikku vs Ayane) will feature dressphere changes, and so Monty Oum is holding a contest for an original dressphere design (you have to have deviantART account to participate). More info here. Last edited by L Lawliet; 03-28-2008 at 03:26 AM. | |||||||||

| Happy Halloween everyone! | Wow...you also know about the contest. My sister told me about it and she said that some designs look ugly. She said something about a design which was a enchantress that looked like a normal female genie.I haven't seen it myself so I don't know much about it.

I've only seen one or two designs but they weren't that good IMO. And I'll probably not participate since my creative skills are almost zero. Anyway, the upcoming episode should be interesting, I haven't played X nor X-2 before but Rikku seems cool so... | Just thought about announcing the first winner of the contest. It's a Red Mage dressphere really well done and as far as I can tell it's based on the FFIII (DS version) design. | | Well it is based off the Red Mage design of the Final Fantasy games in general. It is just that FFIII and FFXI are the most recent incarnations of the Red Mage that gives the player a more clear very of what the Red Mage looks like when not in sprite form. I can't remember what the original Red Mage looked like but it was roughly the same and FFXI updated it and then FFIII recycled it more or less. This would be a variant on the the two most recent Red Mage designs, the main new piece would the skirt I think. Though I'm trying to figure out why the guy is using Nurbs. I guess they can do the job, but Nurbs can be so unwieldy at times. Though they are naturally more organic, so that might be why. In the end though Nurbs are still rendered out in polygons, which makes you wonder why you don't just doing it all in polygons anyway and not Nurbs. Oh well, glad to hear the guy is doing his own modeling this time around. I don't know how much of the modeling he did for his others, but it sounded it like he had others do that for him. Which if you are an animator is perfectly fine, an animator doesn't need good modeling skills if you are just going to animate, but it sounded like some of his models were acquired through some shady means.

![]() I'm not sure but I think that the one he has modeled all on his own was Rinoa in DFII. Of course that now he has to model all of the original dresspheres since the models for them don't exist. Edit: this is how Red Mages were in FFI ![]() Last edited by L Lawliet; 04-14-2008 at 09:50 AM.
