i never really have, but i was close to it when i heard Wind Crest~The Three Trails from the FFx-2 piano collection.
the ending theme for FFX was sad too.

Aerith's theme made me cry, as did Zanarkand and Eyes on Me. I was sobbing like a child at the end of FF VIII - it was so bittersweet. Not over Squall or Rinoa, though. Never did manage to shed a tear over either of them. >< It was Laguna and Raine that got me.
I'm not sure it counts since it didn't make me cry in context with its relative FF, but I put Melodies of Life to the ending of my FFVIII Next Generation fanfiction and cried over it then. Never though about it until it came on my mp3 player and realized it fit perfectly. Haha.
FFX's ending was quite sad, but for all-out bawling Eyes on Me takes the cake.

Well, if you want to talk about songs that have actually made me cry the easy answer is all of the 'end themes.' When you beat a game as immersive and long as a Final Fantasy game, when you've defeated the end boss there's a sense of finality - but also a sense that the game ending is like a well liked friend, leaving you for a long time (at least until it's been so long that you want to play through the game again).

And that makes me cry almost every time. I wept like a little baby at the end of the NES FFIIj - mostly because that original version was sooooo freakin impossible to beat, but I completed it - and it was going away forever. There was a real sorrowful end to that experience I remember. Beating FFIIIj on the NES was a little different - as I wasn't nearly as attached to the characters (what characters? lol) as I was in FFIIj, but it did take a long long time to beat. At the end of that one I shed a few tears but I remember just smiling, glad that it was over.

But if there's any single song that can move me to tears completely out of context at any time it's definitely the main theme, "Final Fantasy." Not the prelude, but that "pomp and circumstance"-esque string piece that shares its name with the series we all love. I think they stopped using it in FF games around FFIX or FFX, but I'm not sure - I know they play it at the end of FFVIII. But it was first heard standing on the bridge that the king of Corneria builds you in FFI, looking off into the distant lands that await you...

In fact, literally yesterday I was driving home from work, and the orchestrated version of the song 'Final Fantasy' (from the 02202002 album) came on, and I seriously started weeping like a little girl lol. Pathetic, I know - but what can i say, Final Fantasy moves me, that's why I'm here.

I can't say I've ever cried during the Final Fantasy games. The only theme song that EVER got to me was Eyes On Me, but I didn't cry or anything. I thought it was very sweet.

Even though I really can't understand all of the words, Suteki Da Ne is a beautifully written and the tones, harmony, and notes just strike the emotions. If anyone ever reads a good translation of the song, it really has some powerful lyrics. I know a limited amount of Japanese and it wasn't nescesary to understand its meaning.

Final Fantasy X in general was well composed.

1000 words itself never triggered emotion, but the scenes added the sad connotation. When i heard the song without the scenes, I thought it had a syntax that implied anger on the part of the protagonist.

I'd say that the three songs that got to me most were Melodies of Life - FFIX, simply because of it's sorrowful beauty, Eyes on Me, and Suteki da ne. Melodies of Life though, is definitely the most powerful to me, IMO

on ff5 when exdeath was useing the power of the crystals to attack butz and the rest of the gang and galuf uses his strength to push the attack forward then to pur krille out of the little circle to save her thenbegins to fight exdeath

I think aLL of FF's theme songs are touchy, but.. the one that reaLLy makes me cry was "Suteki Da Ne" from FFX, and the cutscene was aLso touchy.. of course.. "Eyes On Me" from FFVIII makes me cry too.. I reaLLy reaLLy Love the words, JuLia made that song for Laguna, though, she isn't reaLLy a songwriter, but it's the exact word that she reaLLy want to say to Laguna, sadLy, they didn't see each other again..

the story behind the song is one factor that it makes me cry..

There are some beautiful and touching FF song but neither one of them made me cry, not sure that I understand why should FF songs make me to cry but whatever. The ones i find touching are Forever Rachel, Aeris Theme and Rose of May.

Well this song doesnt make me cry,but it does make me feel like crying.The beginning song from FF10 always gets me because after playing through the whole game I would still play some Blitz and I would here thst song and think of the ending.
