But yeah, higher capacity cartridges do exist, they just seem to get ignored a good deal. I know cartridges with more space then DVDs do exist, but I'm not too sure about the availability (or even existence) of carts with a similar storage space to Blu-ray and HD-CD (or whatever the spelling). I have a few higher capacity carts myself as they do have a much faster loading time than CDs. The worst bit was getting the hardware to read them. ![]()

I think in terms of durability and lifespan, cartridges are the way to go. Maybe its just me growing up with them, but to this day if I so desired I could hook up my SNES and play some Super Mario World or whatever, while if I let a CD go through the same kind of wear and tear, it would be to the point of unreadable mess. Maybe when I was younger I was more rough on everything, but I seemed to have CDs scratch and not work as well, and I have only had one cartridge sometimes fail to work, and the reason being that was because the cartridge was lying on my basement floor when my basement house flooded, causing the game data to become damaged, sometimes glitchy, especially with saves. Anyways, I have always been partial to cartridges, but as I get older, I realize that CDs probably are the better option because of the amount of data they can carry.

This a toughie. I grew up with cartridges and shit and honestly they were awesome as hell. When disc came along, it kind of destroyed the magic of owning something you had to blow in to keep clean and shit like that. With CDs, they're just vulnerable to anything. Dust, scratches, heat. If you scratch the hell out of a disc, it won't play or load. That can't happen with a cartridge and it can take a beating and still work. Honestly, I would rather we go back to cartridges. I mean, think about it. Slender, yet stronger cartridges that can hold as much as any disc out there. I would assume they would be slender anyway rather than large lumps of plastic.
