Well now...that is very good. Glad to see that more precautions are being taken. That is great. And for five years, not bad at all.

The thing about HD games is that you still have the problems of loading, and temporary freezing and other things associated with games on the HD. However the last time I played a computer game was about 13 years ago. I had a DOS game called Ravenloft: Strahd's Possession. So basically my experience is pretty limited. Still think cartridges are the way to go.

I hate discs, they not only are they not as durable as cartridges, they freeze much more easily too.

I never had a problem with games just "freezing" in the N64 and SNES, then along comes the disc generation systems, and there is all of the freezing making redo everything I just did.

Uhhmm one CD holds 100000 carts? Or am I missing something here?
Sure CD's scratch, but eventually when technology improve or are born, it will always be more fragile.

CD/DVD/BD/HD-DVD FTW
(I forget any?)

EDIT:

How long would a NES take to load Oblivion? 15 years?

Seriously, games take longer to load because they get bigger, how many NES consoles would you need just to load a game like Oblivion to the menu? MANY!

Disks scratch too easily(I had to stop a game about 2 hours before I got to the second disk because disk one was scratched in such a way that it made it impossible to get any further.)

Cartridges are too easy to lose(I lost FFTA a few years ago... And I still can't find it! I've looked everywhere. Rawr!)

I prefer games when they're saved on my computer or something. Unless the file gets corrupted(which doesn't happen too much) I can play it for ever 0_o. I doubt I'll ever lose my computer(while it's still in use anyway) and its hard drive has a few years left on it(even so, I'm going to replace it soon anyway.) Best thing of all, my computer doesn't need an internal battery to keep save information ^-^

Here's a suggestion..

It's true, discs might bet scratched, burned, broken or even bent out of shape, but what about keeping your precious games in your covers? Or atleast place them so they wont get scratched while they're laying there?

After I started doing this.. I have 3-4 years old PS2 games that runs easily on my old PS2, I have old discs that looks spankin' new. Just thought I'd bring this up because most peoples arguments against discs are that they break, if you take care of them your computer/XBox/Playstation/whatever will break before the discs.

I actually voted discs on the poll, but I do like carts more, as I have actually had to throw away games cause they were scratched beyond repair, even though I set the discs in protective casing, and also, I have to constantly monitor discs to make sure they aren't scratched, but with carts, I don't have to worry too much.

Personally, disks.

I keep good care of mine (generally), so they never get too messed up.
But if they do, I have ways to fix em

@Naoto: This may sound crazy, but try rubbing the back with toothpaste (no little granules in it, of course), and wash it off.
It REALLY helps a game start to work again.

Cartridges, definitely cartridges. Not as easily damaged, higher sound quality (yes, really!), etc. If modern consoles ran cartridges, the quality of everything would be out of this world. 8D
