Forum Upgrade

We just finished upgrading the forums to the latest Vbulletin release 3.7 GOLD. I am excited to finally be back up with the times and have piece of mind that we have all the latest security patches.

There are quite a bit of new user enhancements, so be sure to browse around your control panel, member profiles, and much more... Merlin and Cesar will be working on combing through the details. Please post any bug reports here. The upgrade went pretty smoothly, but there may be a view template problems... DARK, TFF LIGHT, and 5.1 are the only ones up-to-speed.

Most of the mods work well still, but please report any problems.

Not quite... There's a bit of a gap between the TFF hierarchy header and the 'Welcome user' tidbit on the upper right on tff dark.

but I have a small question:

- What is the difference between Usernotes and Visitor Messages?

And..

- Why the avatars look so small in the profiles?

Everything looks a lot brighter, but I don't know how to use my gill anymore. The arcade won't accept my money.

What do the albums in the profiles do?

Oh, and why are the rep bars all different shades now?

This is a nice new look for TFF. I've seen similar looks on other forums that resymbols TFF's newest upgrade so its nothing new to me. I think Usernotes and Vistor Messages are alot alike but the difference is unlike Usernotes with you need to click on to see them, you can see what other members write about you when you click on your profile name, and other members can see other members visitor messages when they click on your profile, this can be similar to Rep as well, but passersby can see what other members like about you by looking at the visitor messages you get. Very nice upgrade Fuzz, I dear say.

Can I be the first to say the reputation bars look like vomit?

There should be notification for rep and for usernotes, like the kind you get for PM's. I would approve the creation of such a tool.

I think I have moderation abilities for other people's visitor notes. Is this true for all of the staff, or do even regular members have this ability? If so, we should probably fix that.

And why can I see who has viewed other people's profiles, but I can't see who has viewed mine? I don't know if I'm fond of that feature (stop tracking me!), but it seems an odd distinction to not be able to see my own.

EDIT: Bahaha second question answered. But seriously, I think I can delete other people's visitor notes.

Uh, I can see who's been on my profile, so i don't know about you, Ally..
And I don't think I've seen any mod features in visitor's profiles, but I haven't really paid any attention. *looks*

Thanks for pointing out the arcade issue. I went ahead and upgraded that mod to support both vbulletin 3.7 and the newest version of vbcredits. It should work now! There are also new features in the arcade, so be sure to check those out.

Either I, Cesar or Merlin will have more detailed notes about the new features as soon as we get everything ironed out! Thanks for the quick feedback. Enjoy mates

Regarding usernotes... I checked the permissions and you're actually not able to manage them -- nor are the members. As to why it shows a link even though you're not allowed to, I don't really know. Supermoderators also weren't allowed to manage them, but I changed that. Formerly only Administrators could, but now the supermods can manage them as well. On that note, if any users notice abuse of their usernotes, you should contact any of the supermods or admins so the issue may be resolved. Usernotes are still subject to forum rules.

Regarding "Visitor Messages:" I checked permissions on those as well. I don't necessarily disagree with the ability to remove them for all groups. If someone writes something foul, you should be able to remove it from your profile immediately, as they're on your main profile page for everyone's immediate viewing.

Those are the permissions for the "Registered Members" usergroup -- it is identical for all usergroups, and I'm okay with this. It DOESN'T allow you to edit other peoples' messages on other peoples' profiles -- only your messages on others' profiles, and any of the ones posted to your profile. If anyone objects, I should be told soon, albeit via PM as to keep this thread more directed to any other issues/questions/etcetera people have.
