| The Old Skool Warrior |
I have not only altered some of the values necessary for various titles (and added a new lower-level title), but I have also changed some of the phrases which they stand for. I believe these are fitting of their respective rep values, but if anyone has any real complaints or suggestions, feel free to share them. I lowered many of the values to make it easier to attain higher statuses. Sarcastic/spammy posts will be ignored, so if you have any suggestions, please be serious about them. ^_^;; (edit: everything has just changed to a Square-Enix theme) For the curious, here is the current Reputation Title listing: Code: Less than -200: User has become a Heartless - (lv -5) -200 to -101: User is naughtier than Seymour - (lv -4) -100 to -51: User is more corrupt than SOLDIER - (lv -3) -50 to -11: User betrayed the Returners - (lv -2) -10 to -1: User is a spoony bard - (lv -1) 0 to 10: User is a n00b - (lv 0) 11 to 49: User has levelled up - (lv 1) 50 to 99: User takes classes from Quistis - (lv 2) 100 to 174: User has teamed up with Cloud - (lv 3) 175 to 249: User sips tea with Black Mage - (lv 4) 250 to 374: User jumps rope with Freya - (lv 5) 375 to 499: User travels time with Crono - (lv 6) 500 to 649: User successfully stole from Locke - (lv 7) 650 to 799: User has summoned Bahamut - (lv 8) 800 to 999: User has gathered the Crystals - (lv 9) 1000 or more: User has mastered Ultima - (lv 10) edit, 10 May 2006: I have just made a couple more changes to the user reputation system. Now, instead of having to rep 20 other users before you can rep the same person again, you only have to rep 15. I know it's still a fairly large number, but I think it's more appropriate than 20, and still high enough to prevent rep-whoring. I have also altered the display settings so that you can see the last TEN comments left for you, rather than the last five. I kept getting questions about that, so I figured I would go ahead and do it. I won't set the number any higher than that, though. --- If you don't have 200 posts, it doesn't matter how high your reputation is -- you won't be able to actually affect anyone's points. Conversely, if your reputation is below 10, you also cannot affect anyone's points, regardless of how long you've been here or what your power is. Yes, you do receive one point every X days, every X posts, and a couple other variables. I don't necessarily know that publicizing the full workings of the system is bright, as it may encourage more spam... but they're very high numbers, just know that.

| The Quiet One | I'm not so sure about this first one, absolutely stupid comment. I am not so sure what it was before, but that seems rather insulting even if the person that receives its desires that title. You seem to be making a lot of changes and bringing up a lot of things for having only had your office of position for a day or two now. Don't let that power go to your head now. | ||||||||

Inventory | Ah yes... "relm has friends" sounds a bit better than "you are on a distinguished road" lol ^^ Question though - is there a thread that tells you how reputation is added up? I never was sure about the whole rep system thingy... And is there a way we can find out the exact number of our rep?

| The Old Skool Warrior | Haha, I know. I just remembered that Fuzz had been talking about changing the user reputation comments ever since we got vB 3.5, and nothing was ever done about it. Can you believe that the value for the highest was 2000? If you have a better choice for the -200, I'm all ears. To be honest, I put it in there simply because I couldn't think of anything better. edit: @ relm: Go into your UserCP, and scroll down to the bottom. The last table shows your reputation and comments -- the actual number of the reputation is listed in the title bar. secondary edit: Andromeda and I talked, and came to a very OBVIOUS conclusion... reputation titles should be Square-Enix based, since this IS a Square-Enix forum. Expect that whole first post to be edited with the new titles soon. Though, I may simply leave the "is a n00b" one alone because I like it. ![]() | ||||||||

Inventory | Excuse me for saying, but I feel some of the Reputation titles are a little too specific, in the sense that you would only get the relevance if you've played that particular game the title is referring to, as opposed to being familiar with Square-Enix and Final Fantasy games in general... For example: I've played FFVIII so get the "Taking classes with Quistis" one, but I don't know what the "Jumping rope with Freya" one means. And some people may never have played FFVIII. (Of course there are exceptions, everyone should be familiar with the "Spoony Bard" as a part of popular FF culture regardless of playing the original game.) What about things like "Has caught a Chocobo" or "Befriended by Moogles"...?

| The Quiet One | Freya is from FFIX, unless there is another Freya and she is a Dragoon. And well Dragoons jump, so I guess he made the next jump to jumping rope. It is a little strange, but makes sense I guess. And mind the pun. | ||||||||

| Magically Delicous | The whole thing sounds rather corny and obscure. There is no feasible way to determine what level someone is unless you physically have memorized all your new quirks. The titles may have sucked before, but you could at least tell there was a difference. The green dots really don't make a noticable difference either.. they never have. The range at which each dot covers is huge. Perhaps editing them slightly like "Lvl 1. User is a newbie" or something. | ||||||||

Inventory | I sorta agree with tech support and phat chocobo wayy up there. It's hard to tell what the titles mean... Ok, and I'll have to admit too that I haven't played FFVIII and FFIX ;___; But I guess that would make me in the minority in TFF lol. I understand it's hard to think of titles that won't exclude anyone. For example, phat chocobo, what if someone hasn't played secret of mana? How will they know what a rabite is? I like tech support's idea, because it helps you see how much rep one has, despite what it says. Like... "LvL. -1: User is a rabite."

| The Old Skool Warrior | Ah, I like the idea of implementing some sort of level. That's a pretty simple fix, too. Just a little addition at the end of each comment. It would have to be at the end since there's no way around the "username [rep title]" format without wandering into the database and digging through the vB code. It would be weird seeing something saying relm Lv1 has levelled up, wouldn't it? So yeah, I'll tack them onto the end. Good suggestion, guys. | ||||||||

Inventory | I ran into this problem a while ago. Kazanthikus and I came up with an entire list, but there was no way to tell what each one meant in the end, much less its relation on a scale. It's hard to be creative with something like this while making it seem like an actual rank. The levels tagged on the end help a lot, though. Obviously Locke is favored here. And I REALLY want to be a Spoony Bard. Steps must be taken.

Inventory | I have a question about what it takes for your reputation points to increase. People have given me rep, but it has remained the same number. Just wondering why. ^^; PS - congrats on your 3000th post, Soldier~

Inventory | My guess is that the longer you've been a member, or the higher your level, or possibly the higher your own reputation is - the more effect it has on other people when you give them Rep points. I've had a rating from someone (probably rude to say who) that didn't influence my total Rep score, but a Rep rating I got from someone else gave me about 10 extra points!

| The Old Skool Warrior | If a user has less than 10 reputation points (i.e. is a n00b or on any level lower), they CANNOT actually alter your reputation. Their comment, whether intended to be good or bad, will be accompanied by a grey box, meaning they've given 0 points to you... or taken 0 points away, if that is the case. | ||||||||

Inventory | Hey I'm new here and I think it is actually fun to do the rating, 2 bad that I can't affect anybody good or bad so if anybody is kind enough to help me out over here to reach the points I'll make sure to be ratin users in a fair way... by the way Phat Chocobo I totally had to steal your signature, I hope u don't mind, let me know ok?

| The Old Skool Warrior | Well... rep-begging can be equated to spamming, so I would really appreciate if you didn't go running around asking people to give you good rep just so you can rep other people. The only thing that will come of that is people giving you bad rep for asking in the first place. Yeah, like SOLDIER#819 said, we need to make the system a little more well-known, but wandering around the forums asking for it isn't a good way. ^_^;; | ||||||||
