Final Fantasy XIII Versus development put on hold...

Final Fantasy XIII, part of Square-Enix's Fabula Nova Crystallis, has been put on hold so the development team can work on Final Fantasy XIII itself.

The Fabula Nova compilation is apparently having some issues, and with FFXIII being Sque Enix's number-one priority, resources are going from Versus into the main game. The team will still be producing artwork for Versus in the meantime.

Well, they did say that the Fabula Nova Crystallis's games will be released with some time between them so delaying Versus a bit is not a very big problem, if that means that XIII is coming out earlier.
What isn't good is if they decided to rush the title to be able to get a 2008 release and as such make it not as excelente as we all hope it is.

I'm glad to hear that Square thinks FFXIII is their main priority. Good for them. I just hope they don't rush it into a half ass game like Lawliet mentioned. I'm not the most patient person but I'm sure the wait will be worth it once we hear a release date.

From a rather personal perspective I'm kind of glad it's being put on hold too. But that's only because it gives me more time to put together some money to buy a PS3

But seriously it's nice to know they're going to make a real effort to perfect it before release.

Well, Square Enix has been busy of late. They've got three games for a compilation of sorts for the next gen in Final Fantasy. Then they also are working on the new Kingdom Hearts games, but it's good that Final Fantasy is coming first. However, this can't be the end of the delays... This could very well just be the beginning...

Good news to all of you who are looking forward to Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Square Enix has gone out and debunked recent rumors about the game being put on hold until Final Fantasy XIII was ready.

According to them the truth of the situation is that when free, some staff from the Versus team have been helping with the XIII team on development of Final Fantasy XIII. Development for both titles is continuing as originally scheduled.

This new statement contradicts what Testuya Nomura said in the latest issue of Famitsu so I guess only time will tell.

So it sounds like there was probably some misinterpretation (or outright lies?) and that it's just the Versus team is helping out the XIII when they have free time, I guess...?

So I'm guessing that since Versus is not being put on hold at the moment for the main title, that this will delay the game further since they're working on both games as well. Not to mention the other games that they have in the works. Not too thrilled about it to be honest. But who knows. Only time will tell. =/

Look at it this way there are different teams working on different titles at the same time, square has done this for YEARS just got to the square-enix website and look up the time line, and most of their games have been spectacular. VII and Xenogears where being developed at the exact same time and both where done masterfuly. I am doubting that we will see 3 underdeveloped titles.
