Final Fantasy XIII news

Heres some Final Fantasy XIII news. I posted this here because i don't think theres a FFXIII thread is there........

In the latest issue of Gemaga, Square-Enix released some more details regarding Final Fantasy XIII.

the scenario of the game is approximately 80% complete. There will be a number of vehicles to use in the game, and some may or may not take advantage of the PS3 controller's 6 degrees of movement. If one watches the trailer, the two yellow insignias on the woman's left shoulder are meant to show social status. This status will determine what types of conversations will happen with other characters in cities. A surprise given was that the woman that took up most of the trailer is not the main protagonist of Final Fantasy XIII. Square-Enix, however, did reveal that they were planning on giving the role of the main character to a woman.

I think that FFXIII will turn out to be a great game. I was hoping the character we saw in the trailer would be the main character but at least that means theres more than one playable character .

Hell, I'd buy it, but i'll wait at least a year after the ps3 is released before i goet one , when there's a price drop after christmas and summer.

It's about time they put a female character as the lead (barring X-2), it just goes to show you women can rock in RPG's as well. I think tho that SquareEnix know how to create powerful female role-models in thise games, such as Aya Brea from Parasite Eve and PE 2.

I will certainly buy Final Fantasy XIII as soon as I buy my PS3. I think Final Fantasy XIII will turn out to be a better game than Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Bah, darn teasers.. I can not wait until this game becomes available.

I'd consider Terra the lead character of Final Fantasy VI (3e).

I do too, but I thought she was the main character but it will be good to see a female providing she doesn't have an annoying personallity like Yuna or (Female) Tidus. At the looks of things this is going to be better than FFXII but thats just from what I have seen, If it is released the same time as the ps3 then I'll get them together otherwise I'll wait till it comes out to buy my ps3, hopefully just after Xmas but I will probably be focused on FFXII quite a bit too.

i have to buy a ps3 to play ffVIII. man this sucks. my parents are never going to let me get one. *sigh* i probably have to play the game like 5 years after it comes out.

im lookin foward to ffXIII from what i read in a magizine the girl can really kick ass it says in one trailer she invades a train full of some army and takes em all down with her two guns and from what i saw its gonna be a different battle system to not like the one you remeber either. and there is another guy in the game that i heard about it said a bunch o soldiers started shooting at him and he used some spell to deflect all the bullets and another spell to create a bunch of magical swords to defeat his enemies i dont know if he is friend or foe yet ill try to figure more out

Im really excited for it, and so soooooooooooooooo curious about the story line, the new battle system, the new summons, and of course, the most exciting part, the characters. Since the pink-haired girl wasnt the lead, my excitement has really overflowed a lot. Who the heck is the lead character!? Im so excited! Man, I cant wait for it!

Final Fantasy VI was the first female lead character, I believe. From the Final Fantasy Compendium: "An exceptionally well-told story of the half-human girl Terra, confronted with her past and future, an evil emperor, and an insane and powerful maniac named Kefka. She's helped by 13 friends through the destruction of the world and beyond."

I've looked at the intros to all 5 previous games in the series before VI, and it is the first one to speak of a female lead.

In Dengeki, FFXIII director Motome Toriyama said, "The intensity of the opening scene -- it's probably the most in the Final Fantasy series so far." The game's opening will consist of a real time battle scene whose intensity Toriyama promises will surpass what's been shown in the few trailers release for the game so far.

Toriyama also clarified some points on the relationship between the Cocoon world and the world below it. FFXIII's story begins as something from the lower world invades the Cocoon, causing a panic. The people of Cocoon are generally afraid of the outside world, and anyone who is believed to have received outside influence is forced out of Cocoon. Toriyama likened this "influence" to a virus.

The biggest concern amongst Cocoon residents is that of their home falling from the sky. People who do things that could make Cocoon fall from the sky, and people who are ablieved to have the ability to do such things, are deported from Cocoon.

Closing up his comments with Dengeki, Toriyama promised some surprises for the celebration of Final Fantasy's 20th anniversary this year, as well as a chance to get our hands on Final Fantasy XIII as soon as possible. The first 20th anniversary surprise came recently with the announcement of the Final Fantasy 1 and 2 remakes for the PSP. Let's hope the second part of Toriyama's promise isn't too far off.

Tetsuya Nomura had a few comments of his own with Dengeki, regarding both FFXIII and FF Versus XIII. Nomura, character designer for FFXIII, shared some details on the mysterious blonde-haired guy who appears at the end of the latest FFXIII trailer. He's a big guy, Nomura revealed, adding that the design specs for the character called for someone big enough to run while carrying two people around. Recently, it was decided that his foot size would be 33 centimeters.

He wouldn't reveal the relationship between this character and Lightning, the game's main character, except to say that it will be something different that what we've seen so far. Other friendly characters will appear in the game, of course, although Nomura admitted to currently being in the middle of the design process.

Nomura has more involvement in the Versus project, on which he's serving as director. While nothing but CG has been shown for the game so far, he said that due to the power of the PS3, the game should be able to feature battles set in areas with great differences in height, just like in the trailer. Players will have to fight using the full environment, both directly in front of them and above and below.

The trailer showed the still nameless main character warping about while taking out enemies. Nomura explained that players wont be able to warp freely to every spot on the battle field. However, you will be able to warp to the location where you've placed your sword. You can also throw your sword into the distance, then warp to it. This is one area of the game where Nomura and crew are currently conducting tests.

Also hinted at the trailer is that the main character will be fighting by himself. That won't be the case in the final version. You'll fight along side party members who have their own abilities and weapons. We can expect something similar to Kingdom Hearts, said Nomura.

Nomura added one more important bit when discussing FF Versus XIII with Famitsu PS2. Asked what type of PS3-only features the game will have, he mentioned Six Axis support. He didn't go into specifics.

Like FFXIII, we're sure you're wondering when you'll be able to get your hands on FF Versus XIII. Nomura has mentioned previously that development on the Versus XIII project is trailing that of its sister project. While Toriyama was able to suggest a playable version of FFXIII in the not so distant future, Nomura stated that he's already come up with ideas for the next Versus XIII trailer, which he promises will be extremely cool.

Just more news on FFXIII and some on FFVXIII as well. This is definitely interesting talk. Most of the FF games did not have a lot of action in the first FMV, though FFVIII and FFXII did pretty good jobs of having action right at the beginning. Squall and Seifer fought it out giving you a nice feeling of action at the beginning along with the music and the beach landing scene that they had with the SeeD test. And FFXII had the whole war and fighting both being good action to start off with. It is going to be very interesting, if they are going saying it is going to be more than any of the previous games.

I was greatly disapointed with FF12. Sure, it was a good game, but it wasn't "Final Fantasy" good. It was nice to see another adventure in the world of Ivalice, and it seemed to borrow a huge amount from Vagrant Story.

Back on topic, I personally think that FF10 was the last amazing game Square made.

I will be very hesitant about this one.

I wish I could be more excited, only ... i don't plan on getting a ps3 for a lllooooooonnnnngggg time. i have an xbox 360, but until i'm legally old enough to get a job, this summer actually... nvm then. still it would take me a while to get a ps3 mininum wage, it just doesent seem worth it as of now. plus, i heard the online capabilites aren't living up to the price. xbox live kicks ass, i can't seem to get off it lateley. well, back to the point. the game looks amazing but it's just a shame sony had to build such an expensive system.

This game sounds very great. =P Especially getting to use various vehicles, but I was hoping that the main character was the women in the trailer. Still, it may be the best Final Fantasy.
