I started to play ff12 again after I stopped playing for about a year. Anyway please help me. I want to do everything in this game.

I have a few questions:

1) What is this "monograph" thing and where can I get it? I heard that this will give you lots of gills or something.

2) I'm level 42 and right now I'm doing this sneaking into Drahlkor laboratory in Archade thing where I got whopped by the boss called Dr.Cid or something.
So I decided to level up more then go back to taht mission. So is there a good place to level up at level 42?

There are seven monographs, and each allows certain genuses to drop items, some of which sells for a large amount of Gil, or are rare items. They are all bazaar goods, and will appear as a Forgotten Grimoire.

- Sage's Monograph. Costs 25,000 Gil. Appears after talking to a maerchant over 100 times. Monsters whose Genus is Elemental drop extra items.

- Hunter's Monograph. Costs 18,000 Gil. Appears after defeating the Mark Thextera, and talking to Gastly in Rabanastre. Monsters whose Genus is Beast or Avion drop extra items.

- Knight's Monograph. Costs 19,000 Gil. Appears after talking to weapons merchants over 30 times. Monsters of the Giant or Insect Genus will drop extra items

- Dragoon's Monograph. Costs 22,000 Gil. Appears after deafeating the Rogue Tomato, and examining the Mark Noticeboard more than 40 times. Monsters of the Dragon or Plant Genus will drop extra items.

- Mage's Monograph. Costs 21,000 Gil. Appears when you talk to Magick merchants more than 25 times. Fiend genus members will drop extra items.

- Warmage's Monograph. Costs 20,000 Gil. Appears after you defeat the Rogue Tomato, and examine the Noticeboard more than 20 times. Monsters of the Amorph and Undead Genus drop extra items.

- Scholar's Monograph. Costs 220,000 Gil. Appears after talking to the Armpury merchant more than 15 times. Monsters of the Construct Genus drop extra items.

2) I managed to beat Cid at Level 38. What has your party unlocked on the Licence Board, what Magicks and Technicks do you own? What have you got equipped?

The general strategy I followed was to unleash a large Quickening chain to start with, and get a powerful Concurence - Luminescence or Black Hole would be best, but Ark Blast will do. This leaves the Rooks with very little HP, and the target will die. Switch members, and target the rooks, NOT Cid. Then, attack each Rook until it dies. Make sure you have a dedicated healer. Once the Rooks are gone, Cid should be easy. He has low Defence, and the damage you deal will be significantly higher than what you did to the Rooks.
