I would not have trusted him at all. It's kind of crazy to me how Vaan would just up and trust Basch after what he was said to have done... And anyone could have come up with having a twin brother framing him.

Actually if you've even played the game at all, you'd know that Vaan didn't trust Basch right off to begin with. He was upset and angry at Basch to start out with, but yeah.

And I don't think Vaan could "see a video", dude. I think you meant. "Vaan wasn't there."

Erm... quite a bizarre question. Personally I'd want a little proof that he wasn't a traitor. And no matter what, you're always going to be a little bitter if your brother died as a result of a war in which the person you're most angry at was a figurehead of. I'm not sure to be honest...

Vaan didn't trust him right off the bat. The only reason Vaan believed him was because Basch fought honestly and hard with him and the others. Maybe he was moved by how patriotic Basch was also, but I'm not too sure about that.

As for me, I wouldn't trust Basch until he gave me some evidence and earned my trust and respect the old fashioned way. After he proved he didn't kill my brother, I'd still be wary since he is a stranger. Plus, like ffguru said, in my mind, Basch would still in a way be responsible for Reks death, seeing as he was Reks' leader and should have been able to take better care of his platoon.

As much as I like Basch as a character, I do believe that Vaan was hasty in accepting him. Vaan actually felt rather out of character himself in that scene when they reach Rabanastre, considering his previous opinion of the Captain. I believe Square used this simply as a way to get him into the main plot instead of just being an observer. The entire Barheim - Rabanastre sequence just seemed rushed to me. They were so eager to get Vaan into the big picture that they sacrificed some of the realism.

Personally, without any previous knowledge of what happened at Nalbina, I would not be so quick to take his word as truth. I wouldn't discount his story out of hand, but I wouldn't put blind faith in it, either. Of course, with Reks dead the only Dalmascan witness is gone, so it'd be Basch's word against the Archadians, and I wouldn't be trusting them either. So I'd probably accept the possibility of his story but remain cautious until I could judge for myself the truth of his character.

I always saw Vaan as a very trusting character and after Barheim passage really wanted to trust Basch and probably would have believed any lame ass explanation and lets face it Basch is far to noble to lie

Eh, not really. I never got that part on what happened. But on the otherhand, he really is strong, just by hitting with his fists. But really, doing thingd such as killing the king and Vaan's older brother.. nah, I wouldn't.

I dont know if i would trust basch or not. I wouldnt trust his words but i would trust his servitude to coming along with us on our journey. I wouldnt trust his words until i saw the proof.

I think he did trust a little too soon, could have been from Balthier's view of Basch and the empire. Balthier once was a part of the empire and he would know how it operates and possibly how Vayne does too.

It would have taken me a little longer to trust Basch that what it did for Vaan to do so. I mean, there was an official declaration that Basch murdered King Raminas, which would have MAJOR sway in my opinion of the guy. Then again, there was a declaration that Basch was killed for his treason, which would also tell me that maybe he was set up. So, I guess I would eventually trust him, but it would have taken a bit of convincing.
