Espers most the time we're just useless. The only thing that could be considered useful about getting one is the experience you usually get to getting where an esper is. But even then you could find better areas to level up at. Still with this said, they're not that pointless in some areas.

Example: Soloing. If you've got a really low level character and want to focus on leveling them up by themselves, then an esper does pull through. It can support that character against some tough enemies that usually would require a group to get rid of. Also if the esper kill it, it doesn't get any exp and so all of it goes to the character which again is useful.

Oh and I will admit that the graphics for their summonings and final blows were pretty damn cool.

i only used them or rare occasions when i was goofing off running around killing things other then that i scarcley used them. not really my cup of tea to rely on anything but my party though so that might have played into why i didnt use them much. most of the time when i summoned them i would time out before they would even unleash their ultimant attack.

They were only useful every now and then against foe's who are weak against their type and such, but they were awesomely good eye-candy. ^_^

Only if, as it's been said many times before, you're walking around an area with semi-hard enemies that the Esper can deal with. Otherwise, they're just a really strong character with limited moves... and you trade two others to get 'em.

Just save the Mist chain and use a Quickening.

Well, I only have one Esper so far(I'm fairly close to getting the second one though I think), and he is fairly useful when Basch(is that spelled right?) is really low compaired to the others as far as his level goes. Otherwise, as others have said, Quickenings are my best friend. *lol*

In Final Fantasy XII the summons espers are pretty much useless because when you have mists the summons aren't really much of a use. I never used the espers except once and that was to see how strong they were. This was the first time in a Final Fantasy game besides FFX-2 that I didn't use any summons help for anything, and thats pretty sad.

yeah the espers were pretty useless i only got them because their backstories were so damn awesome, their main problems were that they were about as powerful as the charecter supporting them and the horrendus mp use that made it impossible to support them with magic (unless they were one of the weak ones, but i found that they're about as useful as wet kipper)

Useless but the only good esper I would have to say would Zodiark since it deals a good 50,000 damage when it casts Final Eclipse plus you only need to have the spell Break to use it.The stupid thing is,I still haven't obtained Ultima and Zodiark.

I didn't use the espers at all. It wasn't worth it to take the time or make the effort to figure out how to use them, so I didn't take it or make it. They were just there. Nice to pull out during a boss battle for no reason when you want something to take the status attacks. They were useless to me otherwise.

i used them when i got bored of seeing the same stuff pretty rare occasions id use them on a boss so all in all pretty useless (now if they had esper bahamut......)

I have actually started to use the better ranked ones (Ultima, Exodus, Zalera, Chaos and Zodiac) and I have found them really useful. The others are awful.

They completely changed tack from 10. Now the Espers are so weak it's laughable. Add to the fact that you can only summon them for a limited period of time and you're (not) laughing.

I hated them all.

The Espers in FFXII were alright due to their interesting background stories, plus they did look pretty awesome. However, due to their restricted time limit of 90 seconds, they were pretty useless when trying to train.

However, the Espers are best used against Bosses, as long as the Boss battle in question doesnt require a hurrendous amount of curing which, during the later stages of the game, unfortunately does .

the espers in FF XII were pretty much useless unless your craracter really sucked balls or something the only reason i brought them out was to see their special abilities and shit

Yeah, the Aeons in 10 were awesome and really helpful but I have found the Espers in 12 to suck. You have to do all this work to get them and then ( sorta like the Magus Sisters) you can't control them AT ALL. Argh!

I think Espers come in handy sometimes. But not a lot. I only have Belias.

The only time in recent memory I recall using an esper at all, was when I summoned Shemhazzai (sp?) during the fight with Adrammelech. I needed something to help clear out all of those corpse things that were in the way, and i didn't have Scathe yet.

I tested them out once I had them but otherwise never used them beause they wasted valuable mp.

well i only used espers in boss fights to make them easier on my account so i really did'nt use them like that
