Necrohol Of Nabudis (Spoiler)

This is a fun zone!! I am in the area Hall of Effulgent Light. All the way to the North is a small room with a fake treasure. In this room you can walk off the map to another small, empty room. In one corner, the X button appears and when you press it a merchant walks out of the wall. He sells Maximillian armor and the demon shield. Also Telekenisis.

Just thought this would be helpful so noone misses it!

No you can't attack the merchant, its a NPC and its FF, you have never been able to attack storekeepers. The Necrohol also holds an Esper and two optional bosses that you have beat in order to face the Esper Chaos. It also has the Zodiac Spear if you do things right. There is a long involved quest to get the Esper, the gates leading to the bosses are otherwise locked until you complete the quest.

It is possible to run through the Necrohol at low 30s, even 20s if you really want to be crazy. I went in around 31 or so and managed to survive, albeit it was hard and rough to do, but it is possible. It is a good leveling area early on if you do not mind the MP Stealing monsters in there and the rare game that spawns having 99,999 HP.

But if you want real "fun" go into the Subterrean of Pharos of Ridorana, that is "fun".

As for your other question, the title Alchemist is based on his number posts, everyone has different titles from their posts.

i worked off some serious karma in the necrohol. the place is nuts. bloody expletive deleted baknamy. they come out of the mist the floor the walls the ceilings and i swear each others pockets. you can go into a room as empty as a promise and get swarmed by the wretched things. and then just when it looks to be lettin up out pops an oversoul and annuls you just for funsies. wonderful place to do some leveling tho. my first play thru i went in before even going to the feywood and all the baknamy had was maximillian armor which is a total yeah team and ethers. this time he had that no ether but the telekinesis. i think he also has scathe or flare even later still.

Humbaba Mistiant was a JOKE boss.... looks tough but he's a total wimp.

Chaos is a fun fight... forces you to think because you can't have the game auto-attack gambits (Auto-Flare/Scathe works EXCELLENT though...)

I'm there now, and I agree with the sentiment on how those Barclays jump out of each other's pockets. You see one then all of a sudden four are rushing your party!

Stupid things. They're quite swift as well.

Got to the merchant, so that's all good. Going to do the mini-bosses for Chaos.

There is a reason that they appear like that. It is because higher level monsters and especially ones in areas like these have invisible on. That means you can't target them, though if you look correctly you'll see this distortion in the shape of a monster. If you be paying a lot of attention to your surroundings, but there was a place in the Henne Mines that 5 Enet just uninvisibled all at once, because they are not always triggered by you. They sometimes link sometimes don't, so there are probably other factors for them. But the Bakamy do link, so once you agro one, they will all come at you wherever you are at. It is good chaining material though.

One thing that helps is gun-based weapons as they very rarely miss. These foes will often dodge regular melee weapons. Guns ignore defense as well. I had all of my magic users out there with the elemental weakness setup so that helped, too. My level 3 elemental spells got them pretty good.

I was I glad I found him, too. It's a relief to find someone who sells Ethers as no other merchant in the game does. I had about 30, though, when I found him.

I ran through that place at level 25 when I went and picked up the Zodiac Spear relatively early in the game. I didn't fight anything; I just held R2 the whole time while maneuvering through the area properly. Many of the enemies did one-hit KO's for 1000+ damage on my guys (a couple of the better armored guys had 2 hits before KO). So, I had around 8 hits before a Game Over. What I did was have only one person in my party at a time and had their weapons/shields removed so they wouldn't spend that extra 1/2 second sheathing. Whenever I was in the clear, I healed up everyone fully. It only took me two tries to get the spear because on my first try, I had trouble finding which chest it was in, and the goblins had surrounded me in that room.

During the Deathscythe hunt in Necrohol of Nabudis (when my guys were at level 48-49), I did face that horse-like creature with 99999 HP. He was manageable. The whole dungeon in general wasn't that hard with Balthier, Fran, and Penelo. They do a lot of magic. Baltheir = Support, Fran & Penelo = both Offensive. For attacks, Balthier uses guns as well, so he rarely, if ever, misses attacks. The enemies in there dodge physical attacks a lot, my melee fighters aren't as useful.

I plan to do those bosses and try for that Esper after I finish the 2nd hunt in there.

I just finished that area as part of the storyline but haven't checked the lower part out yet, though. I have a rank VI hunt pending for down there, but I found out that the monster I'm hunting there is at too high of a level (67) for me right now, so I'm waiting to do it. My guys are at level 49-50 right now.

This place is "fun" especially without Bubble Belt.
All of my guys are lvl 99 but it always "fun" without Bubble Belt.

I replayed the game and went through Necrohol Of Nabudis at lvl 21 for the Zodiac Spear.(Just after the Tomb Raithwall.)
