Cool Return of the name "espers"

I'm very suprised that the creators of the game went back to calling summons espers, they have not used that term since final fantasy V and VI. What are your thoughts on this? do you think that final fantasy is returning to the old school style of the series (except for the battle system). i haven't played yet, i hope i will soon.

I think in a way they are blending in some new gaming elements while also mixing FF games with old similar elements in previous FF games as well. Besides using the terms such as Espers "FFVI" and Mist "FFIX", there are other things that kinda remind you of other things too. Like on the license board when using your LP points to buy spells and stuff, you need to go to a shop and purchase it. In a way it kinda reminds me of the materia concept when buying a spell but also the board reminds me of the sphere grid from FFX too. Overall though this game is great and does not dissapoint. You'll definitely like it SuperSabin2005.

Cool

Thanks a lot, now i really am looking forward to playing it. I can't wait to get my hands on the espers chaos and zeromus. I thank square for bringing some ff villians together in a brand new ff title. And let me guess whos next for summoning in a later ff title, kefka and sephiroth?

Eh i don't know..as much as i like Kefka, they both are atleast (for the most part) human and summons are atleast kind of supposed to be more monster like but hey it could be cool. Not sepiroth though..i would hate that. It also brings back magicite which was used in Final Fantasy VI too. I dont think espers were in V though..only VI.

I'd definitely say this game blends a lot of new and old. The look, feel, and challenge are very akin to the old school games, while it has the great graphics and deep character development of later games. Kinda a good mix of old and new. Also forgot to mention that it takes a lot from Vagrant Story (same team developed the games). Overall i'd say it's a mix between final fantasy/vagrant story. And it kinda even takes elements from online RPGs and PC rpgs in general, takes inspiration from a variety of things, in an entirely new and refreshing package.
