How is it everyone? I have to say some of the music is great in the game, though maybe not as memorable as some of the past titles, like VI in particular which is my favorite.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but this game really doesn't have a battle theme does it? Or atleast in the game there isn't any specific battle music.

I actually love the soundtrack myself. Its freaking awesome. The soundtrack has beautiful melodies in it and it isn't monotonous. Well done
But I did have one small problem with the soundtrack. *---* GUYS SHEESH PUT DOWN YOUR WEAPONS! LOL. I mentioned this in the other thread, but am I the only one who thinks that "Kiss me Goodbye" doesn't match the game? Its a well written composition (I mean Uematsu wrote it), but FFXII is not a love story. And again I know I repeating myself from the other thread, but its as if the song wasn't written with any elements of the game in mind, as if it was written without a game and that the song was thrown on quick at the last minute. the game was delayed various times before its release so it is quite possible. At least this time it wasn't an ending made at the last minute like *cough* FFX-2 *cough*. It doesn't detract from the soundtrack experience itself, but I have major OCD and it just doesn't sit quite right in my head with the game. Despite my little amount of critque, the soundtrack all in all is wonderfully written and composed, 99% of the songs fit the mood, and 4/5 denists recommend you brush with Crest. ![]()

I would have to hear the song without the narration that goes on during the final cutscene that the song plays through. Because while I could hear the music I wanted to hear the narration more than the song, so I knew what the ending was. Definitely it is not really matching with the theme and she probably did not really play the game, I don't know. But listening to it seperate to at least get a better feel of it and the words would lend to a better opinion for myself. As the ending it seemed fine, but as I said the song was more background than anything so I could not really focus on it.
And the only time there really is battle music is during boss fights I think. They could have done what FFXI does and the moment you pull out your sword battle music starts up until you sheath your sword. I'm not sure if that would pull away from the overall experience. I think it is kind of fun hearing the battle music because it makes you feel like you are in the battle with the monsters and it is just you and the monster. But since the idea was that there is more than just the monster around you and you could be jumped at any time by another monster it might ruin that experience. It is hard call to make, I would imagine FFXI factored into their decision.

I just got the OST, it seems that most of the songs has a celtic touch in it, in some ways, indistinguishable.
btw, I'm quite certain "Kiss me goodbye" is not composed by Nobuo Uetmatsu.. He left square enix back in 2004, though he still gets involved in a few of SE's projects, like FF Voices, etc. |

So far the songs of the FF's seemed very nice, somewhat pop or classic. Some are mellow too, and for every song, the still message is very visible on that. I mean audible. Well, I wish he could give a very much inspiring song or maybe a sad one.
