A little romance would be nice in the game, but this game really is different then other FF titles. Hopefully I'll like it when I get to play it. But already based on images and infromation, this game seems really good.

I have to admit this is an interesting topic to revive.
When I first heard Matsuno say there'll be no focus on love and romance, I thought, "Thank god!" I know Sony Generation fangirls go nuts over it, but I personally don't. But the old games definetely did have "flirtacious romance" like Edge and Rydia in IV and of course Locke and Celes in VI. XII I feel does the same thing. Having just beat the game, there's plenty of moments where you can definetely feel a little chemistry between characters, Fran and Balthier being the most prominent, but it's still not in your face lovey dovey like VIII, IX, or X. |

Yes, I would agree and there are a number of RPGs recently that I have played that have been about love. I do not know why it is in so many RPGs, but I was fine with the war story in FFXII. There was the slight thing between Vaan and Penelo, but they were portrayed more friends in the game than it was originally led to believe. Though near the release of the game I think they said that they were more friends. Either way, I think the story did very well without the romance and was just as enjoyable. The Ivalice world has been around war anyway, so it is really not much of a surprise.
It is funny though in spite of the game feeling epic and everything at points. You get to the end and you realize that it was not really about saving the world from destruction this time. Usually the world is dire peril and you have save it. You get down to it, there is a little, but it is more or less just about an empire taking over the world or trying to gain power to take over the world . In the end they really do not get the world, they get some power and might have, but it all ended before it began pretty much. It was a different story in many ways.
