They moved that date so many ****ing times its frustrating. I want my FFXII because its starting to agrivate me...I'm not even sure if that release date is solid...mehh...

Well, that may very well be the plan, Beth. You see, it's actually good marketing. Square may be pissing us off with this one, but it's likely a business ploy with Sony.

Look at it this way. FFXII is released just a couple months prior to the PS3. A sample advertisement would likely go something like this:

oh my gosh. o.o that really pisses me off. i have heard that they already came out with the japanese version, and the american version comes out in november. wtf, this is so stupid. and now i'm hearing it probably won't come out until late 2006 or maybe 2007. i've been waiting forever. hurry up and make it. lol. =D

Ooh. Cunning. I was actually wondering if my PS2 would pull it (somewhat smoothly). I have a pretty old model, and FFXII will be so heavy...

Well, it's March 16th for Japan and 'mid-2006' for North America/Europe. Mmhmm. Let's see if THAT comes true...
But I'd put money on Loco's point.

You're right, it didn't; however, there's a TON more hype surrounding FFXII.

More people know about it. The PS2 did wonders for the new generation of FF titles. Yes, I know a lot of people started playing at FFVII, but think of all the people whose first FF was FFX. With each generation comes a plethora of new gamers. Plus, at the time of the PSX FF titles, a lot of people who'd started on the NES or SNES were stubborn about sticking to their roots, and wouldn't play those titles. There's much less animosity between the oldskool and newskool crowds these days.

Note that there are NO absolutes in that statement, but is generally true of the groups involved. Point being? FFXII is so much more in the public eye -- the internet has a lot to do with that as well. What gamer DOESN'T have internet these days?

Now, back to release date updates.

I just want the damn thing to come out already. It seems like a little bit of information leaked about it, now it's all wrapped up and in seclusion again. I don't know how many more Final Fantasies they will make and tease people with until fans finally go off the deep end and burn SE to the ground in an angry mob.

In a way thats kind of true, but then again, you brought up your point when you say...people will want it on the PS3...so they could put it off longer and make it a debut game with the PS3 or they could pull a Legend of Dragoon or FFIX it gets lost in the PS3 ramble and get overlooked. I forsee the second one a lot more. I mean lots of people delay in buying games just to wait for them to get cheaper. These buyer wont buy because its overshadowed by PS3. If they are reallt good business men they'd sell it for $30 so they won't have to worry about the peole waiting for the price to go down.

From what I've seen they say it going to be this March 16th...We are getting it Christmas.

i heard that the US release date was the march 16 date, but that was about a month ago and maybe i miss heard. But i could see square waiting for the ps3 release. If you look at how many FF titles release on psone it was 3 main ones: FF7 FF8 FF9. Then on ps2 they did three more: FF10 FF 10-2 FF11. I looked at that trend and figured they would just wait until ps3. Thats just my thoughts

As far as I know, this still stands.

FFXII is still a PS2 release, so don't even begin thinking about it being a PS3 release. There's actually a trend of FOUR titles per console, post-NES era. There were four for the SNES (Mystic Quest, anyone?), four for the PSX (FFT, anyone?), and there will be four for the PS2.

i forgot about tatics, and i never played the FF on SNES. sorry about the mix up

i just figured that sony would try to get FFXII for a main release title for the PS3, so they could push sales a little more.
