Ok umm, i just bought a brand new copy of the 2008 edition, installed all of it, including all of the expansion packs. Then i registered and go to play FFXI and of course it needs to update. It checks all of the files then starts downloadin them, but crashes or freezes at this point:

Downloading 41.DAT (95%)
Files remaining 6457/6457

Any idea why this is?

FYI i am using a ATI Radeon X1650 Pro graphics card, 1GB RAM, Windows Vista, and Mobile Broadband (Which is a load of crap to be honest, but i am getting home broadband over the next couple of days)

They're currently performing monthly server maintenance. You just picked a bad time to get it all up and running. No worries, there's nothing wrong. Maintenance is scheduled to be over in about another three hours. It could be less, it might be more.

Give it a shot around then.

Thanks Loco 3 hours? Im sure it said 1900 no? so that would mean in half an hour..oh well. I did wonder if the maintenance had anything to do with it. Umm any tips or help on what jobs would be best?

I honestly didn't remember what time it said. I logged out around 3am local this morning, so my brain was a little fuzzy at the time.
