SE confirms Blue Mage!
The Treasures of Aht Urghan website is now up and they have a place specifically set out for new jobs. The first job to be confirmed in the expansion, is as everyone figures the Blue Mage. But seeing as they say new jobs and the room they give, there looks like there may be two more jobs at least coming.

Mechanics would be something interesting to see. Geomancer and Necromancer are hot topics around Alla, everyone is thinking Necros will be added. Though I'm more interested in seeing Geomancer, it was a fun job to play in Tactics I'd love to see it worked out here.

I was told long ago (very long time ago lol) that they had a "Divine Knight" or something of the sort.. complete opposite of the Dark Knight in the sense of using offensive White Magic spells instead of Black Magic. It'd be a welcome addition BUT I'm not getting my hopes too high about it. As for the Blue Mage, yeah, seems like it'll specialize in Schmictars (sp?)..
I find that funky. ^_^ making a new catagorey for weapons? or just throw some more shit into the Swords section? eh. However, I still dont agree with the Blue Mage uniform... it resembles nothing of an official Blue Mage (check FFV, had armour and back-clad robes) and kinda mimics the Bard and its JSE. >.>

I need to hurry up and start making money so I can rebuild the lappy and reactivate my account (even though I'll have minimal playtime). I cannot wait to play Blue Mage. Here's a completely random combo for you... DRG/BLU, anyone? I can't wait to try that out. I'd love to see the Geomancer class, though I don't think Necromancers really fit in with Final Fantasy. To the people who desperately want it: FF != WoW. Mechanics/Alchemists (as that was Rikku's secondary class in FFX) would be interesting to see as well. The entire job class would revolve around an alchemy skill... and I bet there would be some special crafting bonus if crafting while an alchemist. Or mechanic. Either way.

PLEASE let it be BLU. BUM will open up a whole damn universe of perverse FFXI jokes... As if {Penta Thrust} doesn't allow enough... And I hope the Blue Mages can learn Spike Flail. Well there was the Trainer Dressphere in FFX-2, they got a monkey, dog and something else. That is probably the closest they have come to the Beastmaster job. Though FFXI was already out by the time that FFX-2 was released, so it is sort of hard to justify a little. But you have to remember that there is nothing to say that they cannot make new jobs. FF reinvents a lot of their other things with each game, no reason to reinvent jobs or make new jobs.

The whole BST concept was introduced back in FFV and the "Trainer" .. yep, handy class that. "Capture" a monster when it was weakened, then release it next battle to unleash some special ability the monster had. I never used it much if at all; Considering that the Blue Mage was a much comfortable job for me to chill with ^_^..
..on the subject though. In FFV the Blue Mage had .... 30 spells. Wonder how many they gonna make available for our Blue friends this time around.

In FFVI, Strago (the blue mage) had 22 Lores.
Not only do I wonder how many they'll have in FFXI, but I'm also curious to see what they call the spells that the blue mage learns. Speaking of FFX-2 though, there was the Gun Mage class, which was essentially the blue mage class. I can't recall how many moves that one had, mostly because I was only able to get three or four of the spells.
