I've always thought you had to catch 10 of every fiend in 10 regions to obtain the Mars Sigil from the monster arena guy, but I actually got it after just collecting 10s of all fiends from seven areas. The Mars Crest I don't even remember how I got it, it's been so long since I played on my first save file. I went to the statue of Lord Mi'ihen and put down that rusty sword to make the glyph appear, and Auron achieved his Masamune, yay! But even though I have both crests, it's still equipped with the No AP ability.

And no matter how much I look around on the internet, it doesn't say what to do afterwards you've obtained Masamune. Does this simply mean that I still have to finish my fiend hunt in 10 regions, and the No AP ability will automatically disappear?

I fail at the legendary weapon quests. I've played FFX probably 4 times or something, but never really bothered about secrets except for all the aeons. I have Yuna's Nirvana finished, but that's about it.

To get the Mars Sigil, you needed to unlock a combination of ten monsters at the Monster Arena. That means you had to have a total of ten monsters in the Area Creations and Species Creations. As for the Crest, it was on Mi'ihen Road.

There is something a little extra you have to do to get the abilities for your Ultimate weapons. It doesn't have anything to do with the monster arena, for abilities anyway. You need to first:
obtain two types of mirrors. First off, you go to the Remiem Temple, which is located in the Calm Lands, and locate a chocobo on the right side. There will be a chocobo to race on a spiral-like road on the track located under the temple. To get the Cloudy Mirror, you need to defeat the other chocobo in the race.


After receiving the cloudy mirror, head back to the beginning of the Macalania woods, where the first save sphere is. You should see a mother and her son standing near that save sphere. After talking to her, head to the Macalina Woods campsite and talk to the man all the way at the right. After speaking with him, head back to the save sphere, and head up the glowing path. Talk to the small boy, and he should move so you can get to the big crystal tree thing behind him. Use the Cloudy Mirror , and it will transform into the Celestial mirror, which is what you need to upgrade the weapons.

HELP THREAD IS HELPFUL.

I'm confused. So, you finished powering up Yuna's ultimate weapon, but can't figure out how to power up Auron's? Powering celestial weapons never changes in FFX.

...oh so Macalania Woods goes for every weapon? I thought the macalania part was just included in Yuna's weapon quest.

I must've scrolled past this in the helpful help thread, cause I sure missed it, haha.
