If you remember ( Spolier ) Seymour's mom become a fayth and turned into Anima if I recall from the side quest to Bajj temple. So she has to be a female, because in the final Battle with Seymour there is refrence that Seymour referd to Anima as his mother in a way also as Seymour had anima there must be a connection

Yeah I remember that part in the game, just before you get Anima Seymour's mother (which is now a fayth) tells you the story about her son. So yeah Anima has to be a female.

Yes Anima is female. Really if you never got Anima though, you wouldn't really know. (I don't think there was any other reference?) At first I thought she was as he too. Either way Anima is still awesome!

Whatever type of voice you hear singing the Song of the Fayth while waiting on Yuna, that's the gender, beause it's the fayth itself singing it.
In that sense, I think Bahamut is female too.
