Kimahri's abilities

Is Kimahri meant to be a malleable character or what? Cos I don't see any distinct abilities for him. I always use the Expert Sphere Grid so he starts out being able to either take Tidus, Wakka or Lulu's sphere path, but has no distinct abilities of his own apart from Lancet. Does he have his own path on the Standard grid?

Sadly not really. I wish he did though, cuz when I played X, I made him more of a Warrior by going onto Tidus's path down the grid. After a while I taught him a but of eveything, but yeah. Kimarhi I guess you can say is the Blue Mage of out of all the characters in the game. At least I think so when it comes to his overdrive though...

I took him down Lulu's path, and made him into a bit of a Black Mage. It worked out quite good for me, actually, because if I remember right, Lulu's branches off in two directions a bit at one point, and one goes off to Blizagga, Thundaga, all those, and the other goes towards gravity magic like Demi. I took Kimahri down the 'demi' road, because you don't need to be a great mage to pull that off.

Expert shere grid?? I have never seen anything in the game that alludes to a different version of the grid. How do I access that?

I read the reply to the message I am replying to and noticed that the responder says "no" in answer to the question about the standard grid and Kimahri's path. Ummm ... Each of the characters in my game has a section on the sphere grid with abilities unique to that character until the other characters move into the area using lvl 1, 2, 3 or 4 key spheres. So, how is it Kimahri doesn't have his own "path" on the sphere grid?

Everybody has there own expertise in combat. Lulu use black magic. Yuna use white magic. Auron use skills. You get the idea. Kimarhi on the other hand on the sphere grid doesn't really have an expertise in combat. The only abilities here can learn on his basic grid is Lancet, Scan, and Jynx. He can't use Ultima cuz you need 4 level 4 locks and you can't get that till later in the game. So he's pretty much limited on skills and abilities. That's why those level 1 locks around his starting grid can have access to abilities you want him to learn.

The Expert sphere grid is available from the beginning of the game in the international version i think...the one that has dark aeons in it. when you start a new game you can choose whether you want a beginners standard grid or a more advanced expert grid.

I understand. I never thought of it as Kimahri not having his own path, just as a minimized set of default abilities.

I see. I never liked the fact that the US version didn't have the dark aeons, and now I find out there's 2 versions of the sphere grid in the international version as well. I wonder if the US version sphere grid is the same as the expert grid or if it's some "middle ground" version.

FWIW, I thought not having the dark aeons made the US version suck. Now that I see there are other differences, I think it sucks even more. That said, I love the game and will probably keep playing it forever. lol

I wonder if there's a way I can get a copy of the International English version. Would I even be able to play it on my PS2? heh

If you have an American PS2, chances are you wont be able to play it as its a PAL version. Unless you mod chip your PS2 of course...

When you think about it Kimhari is a Dragoon. He attacks with a spear. One of his Limits is Jump. And he has Lancet which is another common Dragoon move that suck HP and MP and gives it to the Dragoon.

Well, he is and isn.'t a malleable character...

He has his own ways of doing thigs I guess you could say, but in the end, I think he was supposed to be some what magicified...

Because he has Ultima at the top of his sphere grid...

So that pretty much shows that he dabbles in magic, and Yes the U.S. version of X sux...

No Dark Aeons, and the sphere grids are different, the American Version has less slots, the International has like a ton more...

Oh, and you CANNOT play the int. version, unless you want a crashed Ps2. You need a European Ps2 or mod your as you need it...
