Seymour is freaky and very annoying, one i get to the part of the game where he''s gone for good, I will rejoice ^.^

sorry about the spamminess pplz...really. erins new. seymour is weird i rekon. but in that good way. i think the reason that i like him so much is that i can relate 2 him... kinda. i jsut feel that he is the most dimentional character and that he definitley deserves way more credit than what hes getting. i mean, what would you have done in his shoes???

Sorry, but I don't think a troubled childhood doesn't give a character the excuse to murder his father, betray his mother, destroy his world, manipulate everyone around him, and try to marry and have sex with a child. (Yuna was what, 17?)

Almost EVERYONE in this game had a troubled childhood; the rest of of them, however, did not become corrupt. For example:

Wakka, Yuna and Lulu: lost their parents. Lulu was somewhat outcast because of her destructive magic, but became a fierce and maternal protector. Wakka is amazingly well-balanced even after losing his brother. Yuna's a saint, living up to everyone's expectations and exceeding them with kindness and grace.

Rikku: mother torn apart by machina, brother nearly electrocuted her when she was attacked by Fiends. Her race was hated and persecuted by Spira's ruling class. They'd lost their home and she was stuck with an overprotective father and annoying brother. Rikku, however, is just fine; she's only hyper.

Tidus: Had an alcoholic and abusive father, a neglectful mother who died because she clearly loved Jecht more than her son. Tidus wound up being raised by that old grump, Auron, who's got a heart of gold but can be quite harsh. On top of which Tidus felt like everyone was always comparing him to his dad, whom he hated. Other than being an especially whiny teen, he's a good kid.

Kimahri: persecuted and picked on for being tiny, had his horn broken (which is like being castrated) and became an outcast. Did he turn nasty like Seymour? Nope. He promised a dying man to take some random little girl to Besaid, and when she cried he devoted ten years of life to guarding her.

Seymour received a Final Aeon -- his own MOTHER -- but used it not to defeat Sin, but to augment his own power. He didn't want to save Spira, despite his megalomaniac talk of saving everyone by killing them. He wanted to become Sin so he'd have surpreme power. He used and abused and manipulated everyone around him. Remember that fine where Seymour unleashed Sinspawn at Luca Stadium and killed scores of spectators so that he could show off defeating it with his pet Aeon? Remember the hundreds of Crusaders vaporized on the Djose shore because Seymour encouraged Operation Mi'hen? Remember his forcing an innocent teenaged girl to kiss him and marry him against her will in front of her friends, and if she hadn't stepped off the top of a tower, he would've had sex with her? We have a word for that sort of coercion.

Seymour's father was a well-loved man, who brought humans and Guado together; everyone loved Jyscal and couldn't believe Seymour would be anything but a wonderful Maester. So Seymour had a kind, wonderful father to set against an unkind world. Yes, being picked on is difficult. Kimahri shows there are other ways to react to it than turning into an unethical monster.

I don't care about his looks or his voice; Seymour is one of the more insidious villains I've seen. No, Sin and Jecht were not the villains of FFX; Jecht was a prisoner. Seymour and Sin's master were the two villains, and of the two, Seymour is the more central villain of the game, because we see what makes him tick and what he's up to. We're supposed to be disgusted with him.

However, it's common for there to be fans who say, "awwww, that evil man who emotionally abused and tortured everyone around him had a rough childhood, poor thing." Good game designers and storytellers generally give a reason why their sickos are so sick, and that's the most common excuse given, but they're still sick, eh?

Many people will disagree but I actually kinda like Seymour. He was probably one of the best bad guys (behind sephiroth of course!)

Great as a bad guy! What scares me is when people try to say Seymour or Seph or Vader or Voldemort or whoever had a tough life, they were just misunderstood, they were really sweethearts, and they couldn't help the bad stuff they did. No, the point is, they're villains who do things that one can't forgive.

But they're good villains, because you can see why they turned into twisted horrible baddies!

lol i hate those villians that are just mean. you cant see why they are evil, theyre just like "im evil!!!" but you never see why. its annoying. the best nastys are the ones where something went wrong and they just got a little buit twisted somewhere along the way...
