Final Fantasy X- The whole, PLAYABLE, game in NES Form
I'm NOT joking. It seems someone hacked FFIIj from the ground up. Graphics, music, EVERYTHING from FFX for the NES. It's in Japanese though.
Check out the screenshots here: http://www.usamimi.info/%7Eff10fc/pc/scene.html It's downloadable here: http://www.usamimi.info/%7Eff10fc/pc/game.html Someone needs to translate this into English. EDIT 2 AND HALF YEARS LATER OMG! I came across a webpage that compiled all the screens and all the beta files together. http://www.compmike19.com/id461.htm If the above link expires, the old Japanese site is now on the WABACK archives. So you can at least see screens here I also uploaded the files to Megaupload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DJXOASBV If the above link expires feel free to PM me. I have the files now, and don't plan on deleting them. |

my god... that is freakn' awesome. Someone had a wee bit too much time on their hands though. Ironically enough I just finished FFIIj not too long ago, I would love to see what this game is like in english. I bet it wont be too long before someone patches it.
thanks for the links. |

Heh, ditto for me, Cain. If someone translates this, it'll be amazing (I think). It's not often someone takes something new school and reverts it to an old school format... 99% of the time, it's the other way around, you know?

Thats the exact same thought that went through my head Cesar. When was the last time a game was reverted to a NES format. Kind of pointless yet still cool in its own way.
If they ever patch it, can you please update this thread with the link? By the way, did they also add the blitzball game? I doubt it right? It would be hard to convert.

An update on this topic that I just read at Joystick
------------ At twenty, the NES is still kicking. Well, thanks to the homebrew community at least. Sure, there are laws against this kind of activity, but it’s hard to hate on a team of Japanese hackers that has tirelessly recreated Final Fantasy X as a 2D NES game, using the FFII rom as a foundation. It’s all there: limit breaks, Auron’s Bushido attacks, a beefed up magic system, the entire sphere grid, and even the Blitzball mini game. ------------------- So to answer your question Kenji... it appears that the biltzball mini game IS included, along with the sphere gride and limit breaks... simply amazing. Can't wait for this patch... Keeping my eyes open for it. |

Nice! Thanks for answering that one Fuzz. My interest factor just got sparked. Just need to wait for some kind of English patch, that, or I could invest in a Japanese course and try to learn that while trying to keep up in school. Nah, that would never work. Im too lazy. English patch it is.

Just when you didn't needed yet another example of "necessity and boredom are the parents of invention", here come this people and make a FFX remake for the NES.
I definitely laughed my a** out. Especially for the Blitz Ace attack. Definitely can't wait for patching it. BTW, how does the music sound? If I laughed at the most famous CGIs being "8-bit"-ized, the metal song around the beginning must be one to laugh for years. Ah, the 8-bit nostalgia.
