It is between Tidus and Lakam, they both are great. I prefer tidus a little more I say, because he is my favourite character in the whole game, but he also learns how to do the Jecht Shot, which was pretty amazing.

mine would have to be Blappa or Eiger (To Albed Psychs strikers) Eiger is probably the best when you get him some decent moves (SPHERE SHOT for example) he can get it in at half way against a lvl 50 goaly

the only reason i didn't pick tidus is because his attack is shit his endurance is awful and he's still tidas, but tifa i think your right with wakka he rocks the preverbeal socks.

unfortunatly kyou only has good moves but later in the game his stats arn't up to snuff (just warnin you)
