The point of this thread is to discuss what happened in the game. It's kind of hard to aviod spoilers and have a decent conversation at the same time. And stating that no one wants spoilers is a bit presumptuous, don't you think.

some *spoilers* ahead.I think that Lenne's soul is still in the dressphere, since she died and un-pleasent death so her soul is still attracted to Spira. Shuyin on the other-hand, died and un-pleasent death, failed to protect lenne and wants Revenge. So his soul is still attracted to Spira and he must have been waiting until sin was destroyed and the fayth slept so nothing wud get in the way of his plan. When the farplane goes all dodgy it must have been Vegnagun re-awaking as Shuyin awokened it. <<<< well thats what i think....it might not make sence........im not smart person..i might have got the totally wrong idea....

Well yeah but they explain it all in one of the chapters I think well at least I understood what they meant by what they said. So yeah but no they are not related, they do have a conection but they are not from the same... family tree

There is no way that Tidus and Shuyin are related. Tidus must've been an onlychild. In FFX he talked about his mother and his father, but never mentioned a brother. The only reason that they look like is that FFX-2 is just a game. And by the way, Tidus was a dream of the faith while Shuyin existed in the real Zanarkand, the one that was destryed by Bevelle. Tidus' Zanarkand wasn't destryed by Bevelle. Tidus didn't even new about Bevelle. I don't think that this makes much sense, but FFX confused me a little...

Tidus and Shujin are alike because they look nearly the same they come from the same place there attacks and ovedrives are the same and they even have the same height i reckon Shujin could be Tidus older brother or he could be a reincarnation for all i know

Wow, there are some good theories here. I don't know what to believe because I only got around 90 percent completion before giving the game back to my friend so I don't know exactly what the connection was even though I've seen the endings and all. I don't believe they were connected, but some of the theories about Shuyin being the "Tidus" we saw in Zanarkand makes some sense. But think about this. Why would Tidus have such a good recollection of the events and his childhood. Those memories weren't made up. Plus, Auron told him as they were going into Sin that it was the "Beginning" or something. So it had to be Tidus I think. Any more theories, or ideas are welcome.

Assuming Loco calculations are true, Tidus could be the Fayth recreation of Shuyin, and because Yuna was so like Lenne in many ways, he fell in love with her, and is it my impression or does Shuyin and Lenne seem older? I have now made a theory thanks to this topic.

Shuyin is older Tidus. Lenne is incrediably simular to Yuna. keep this in mind.
Zanarkand was destoryed 1000 years ago by the Machina war. Zanarkand was then recreated by the fayth, as they remeber it. Tidus is the younger version of Shuyin. I believe Shuyin a last name or something. Sin attacks Zanarkand, to alter Zanarkands history, to prevent the Machina war. 1000 years ago, Shuyin attempts to activate Vegnagun. Seeing as Shuyin died before that happened, it never happened. I believe Shuyin is part of the Machina wars cause although not proven. He was consealed in the cell, and thus they needed him for answers. Making him an important cause to the Machina war. Now Shuyin has a bond to this world as does Lenne. When Tidus(The younger Shuyin) was taken out of the dreamworld the Machina war was prevented in the dream Zanarkand. Meanwhile in the farplane, Shuyin is continplating the release of Vegnagun. During this time he manipulates some of the people and he uses Baralai as his last pawn. Before Yuna's journey he gets the machina working through Baralai. But then Tidus(Younger version of Shuyin) come to Spira making Shuyin unable to come to Spira because there is only room for one of each soul. Tidus then is sent to the Farplane, therefore allowing Shuyin to move freely once again He attempts to destroy the world. Yuna then uses Lenne, Shuyin's lover to talk to him. Shuyin and Lenne both fade together, making Tidus able to leave the Farplane, and roam freely. He then meets up with Yuna, in Spira again. But how you might ask Tidus is a dream of the Fayth. Without Fayth he is nothing. Tidus had an attraction to this world, as he did not want to leave. Like when Jyscal did. I believe that this was not enough, you know when Shinra said he was not going to be on the Gullwings anymore? I believe he was a unsent fayth who was sleeping. He spoke not a word of Al-Bhed through the whole game and he had known all about history and was unable to tell about it due to the problem that he did not want to world to know too much. When the fayth awake, Shinra became a Fayth who had summoned the dream of vegnagun. I know this does in some ways contradict the perfect ending of X-2, but bare with me here folks. How the hell would Tidus all of the sudden know why he is there? HE DOESN'T!!!! He was comforting Yuna anyway he could and at the same time keeping her around. I know it takes the magic away from the ending, but ohh well.

you all remember tidus limit break attacks in FF X, and when fighting shuin in FF X-2 he uses the same attacks as tidus does, im not sure bout that terror of zanarkant attack, i never got that in FF X
